The world's top two strikers Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland face off when Bayern Munich host Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker on Saturday. Read our reasons for Bayern Munich vs Dortmund prediction and betting tips.
Lewandowski has been unplayable once again in 2020/21. After scoring 55 times in all competitions last season, the 2020 FIFA Best Player has struck 36 times in all competitions so far this term. The Pole has hit a record 28 in 22 appearances in the Bundesliga and still has 11 matches to emulate Gerd Müller's long-standing 40-goal season-best mark. Thomas Müller furnished one of two Lewandowski efforts in the 5-1 drubbing of Cologne last weekend. He made his comeback as a second-half substitute following a four-game absence but is expected to start at the Allianz Arena.
Serge Gnabry, who marked his return from injury with a late brace from the bench, could be preferred to Leroy Sane on the right-hand side of the attack, while Kingsley Coman is set to replace 18-year-old Jamal Musiala on the opposite flank. Niklas Süle should continue at right-back, with Benjamin Pavard having only returned to training in midweek following an illness. Bayern begins the weekend two points clear of second-placed RB Leipzig, who travel to Freiburg earlier in the day.
Bayern: Neuer (c) - Süle, Boateng, Alaba, Davies - Kimmich, Goretzka - Gnabry, Müller, Coman - Lewandowski
Out: Costa (metatarsal), Nianzou (thigh), Nübel (ankle), Tolisso (thigh)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Hansi Flick
Haaland helped Dortmund to a comfortable 3-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld on Matchday 23. The 20-year-old produced his fourth assist of the campaign to go with his 17 goals in 18 Bundesliga appearances. Jadon Sancho contributed two goals to lift BVB to within three points of fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt and was the match-winner in midweek as Die Schwarzgelben advanced to the DFB Cup semi-finals at the expense of Borussia Mönchengladbach. Interim coach Edin Terzic will have been delighted to have got the job done within 90 minutes but is sweating on the fitness of the in-form Englishman and Raphael Guerreiro - the pair having come away with muscular complaints.
They will be given until the last minute to prove their fitness. Germany left-back Nico Schulz is on standby to fill the Guerreiro void, while Julian Brandt and Thorgan Hazard are alternatives to Sancho in the front three behind Haaland. Sancho has six goals and nine assists to his name this season. He’s had a direct hand in 12 of Dortmund’s 22 league goals since the turn of the year. With Axel Witsel still out, either Jude Bellingham or Mahmoud Dahoud will partner Thomas Delaney in the center of midfield.
Dortmund: Hitz - Morey, Can, Hummels, Schulz - Dahoud, Delaney - Sancho, Reus (c), Reyna - Haaland
Out: Akanji (muscle tear), Schmelzer (knee), Witsel (Achilles' tendon)
Doubtful: Guerreiro (calf)
Coach: Edin Terzic

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
