Robert Lewandowski continues his pursuit of Gerd Müller's single-season record against a Koln side set to be without their captain Jonas Hector on Saturday. Read our reasons for Bayern vs Koln prediction and betting tips.
Lewandowski put in yet another Man of the Match performance during the week as Bayern brushed aside Lazio 4-1 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie in Rome. His goal inside nine minutes took him to 32 for the campaign from 31 competitive appearances - just eight shy of Müller's record from 1972. The Pole has only failed to score in four of his league outings this term, while he was also rested for the reverse fixture as Bayern won 2-1 in Koln. Lewandowski’s 26 goals after 22 matchdays is a Bundesliga record. He’s only failed to score once across his last 12 league outings.
However, the champions are winless in two Bundesliga matches after a 3-3 draw at home to Arminia Bielefeld and a 2-1 loss in Frankfurt, seeing their lead at the top cut from seven to two points over RB Leipzig. Absences mean Hansi Flick may well name the same team that started in Italy on Tuesday, with record-breaker Jamal Musiala, who turns 18 the day before the game, being given the nod again in attacking midfield. Serge Gnabry is close to a return from a hamstring injury he picked up in the FIFA Club World Cup final win, though, and could provide a welcome alternative.
Bayern: Neuer (c) - Süle, Boateng, Alaba, Davies - Kimmich, Goretzka - Sane, Musiala, Coman - Lewandowski
Out: Costa (metatarsal), Müller (not included), Nianzou (thigh), Nübel (ankle), Pavard (not included), Tolisso (thigh)
Doubtful: Gnabry (hamstring)
Coach: Hansi Flick
Jonas Hector has had a frustrating season impacted by injuries, with the latest thigh issue seeing him miss the last four games. Koln had enjoyed an upturn with 10 points in a run of five games, including a derby win at Borussia Mönchengladbach, but have since lost their last two against Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart. Cologne has taken 15 of their 21 points on the road. That’s 71 percent - the highest proportion in the Bundesliga. However, they haven’t won in Munich since February 2009.
The Billy Goats are precariously placed in 14th, only three points clear of the relegation play-off spot and four from the automatic drop zone. Nevertheless, Markus Gisdol has developed a settled team. Elvis Rexhbecaj is their top scorer with five goals from midfield, while January signing Emmanuel Dennis leads the line and will think of few better places to score a maiden Bundesliga goal than the Allianz Arena.
Koln: T. Horn (c) - Cestic, Mere, Czichos - Ehizibue, Skhiri, Rexhbecaj, Jakobs - Wolf, Duda - Dennis
Out: Andersson (knee), Bornauw (back), Hector (thigh), Kainz (knee)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Markus Gisdol

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
