Bayern Munich will be looking to Robert Lewandowski to help fire them to the Bundesliga title when they face Marcus Thuram & Co. in the Borussia Mönchengladbach ranks on Saturday. Read our reasons for Bayern Munich vs M'gladbach prediction and betting tips.
Bayern stands on the brink of lifting a ninth successive Meisterschale, one that could have been secured last weekend if they hadn't slipped to defeat to Mainz. The title could be theirs before kick-off if RB Leipzig is beaten by Borussia Dortmund earlier in the day but victory will guarantee the defense of their championship, regardless of what Leipzig does. Lewandowski now needs just four goals to level Gerd Müller's 40-goal single-season record for Bundesliga strikes, while Douglas Costa and Corentin Tolisso are back in training, although the Gladbach game is likely to come too soon for the pair to feature.
Lewandowski is averaging a goal every 61 minutes in this season’s Bundesliga but has tallied just five in 17 league meetings with Gladbach. It’s his lowest return of all current Bundesliga teams he has faced more than three times, not including Bayern. Bayern has conceded their highest number of goals after 31 matches (40) in 25 years. Since the start of 2014/15, no team has taken more points off Bayern than Gladbach (20 in 13 Bundesliga matches). Expect to see Bayern at full strength as they look to wrap up the title - something that in recent weeks could mean a start for Jamal Musiala.
Bayern: Neuer (c) - Pavard, Boateng, Alaba, Davies - Kimmich, Goretzka - Gnabry, Müller, Coman - Lewandowski
Out: Costa (metatarsal), Hoffmann (knee), Tolisso (thigh)
Doubtful: Süle (thigh)
Coach: Hansi Flick
Gladbach inflicted one of only four Bayern defeats this season with a 3-2 win in the reverse as they came from 2-0 down in 26 minutes to secure a dramatic victory. It was a Jonas Hofmann brace and Florian Neuhaus winner sealed that comeback on Matchday 15. Neither were on target in the 5-0 dismantling of Arminia Bielefeld last time out, as substitute Alassane Plea hit his third goal in four games and Breel Embolo ended a 15-game wait for a goal, while Thuram and Remy Bensebaini also found the net. Plea will now be pushing for a return to the starting XI; as will Hofmann, who didn't feature against Bielefeld.
Club captain Lars Stindl is also back in training, giving coach Marco Rose plenty of options in the final third. The Foals’ joint-best marksman last term, Thuram has scored seven Bundesliga goals this season, albeit with only one coming away from home. Indeed, Gladbach has the worst away record of all teams in the current top seven (18 points from 15 games), winning only one of their last eight on the road.
Gladbach: Sommer (c) - Lainer, Ginter, Elvedi, Bensebaini - Kramer, Neuhaus - Hofmann, Stindl (c), Thuram - Plea
Out: Doucoure (Achilles' tendon)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Marco Rose

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
