Robert Lewandowski can take another big step towards Gerd Müller's single-season goals record when Bayern Munich entertains VfB Stuttgart on Saturday. Read our reasons for Bayern Munich vs Stuttgart prediction and betting tips.
Lewandowski's effort in Bayern's 3-1 win at Werder Bremen marked his 268th in the Bundesliga, putting him level second with Klaus Fischer in the all-time scoring charts. Müller remains the gold standard with 365, but his 40-goal haul of 1971/72 is within reach. Lewandowski is on 32 league goals for the campaign and has found the target in each of his last 15 top-flight matches in a row to help the defending champions carve out a four-point lead over second-placed RB Leipzig at the top of the table.
At the other end of the pitch, head coach Hansi Flick should be able to welcome back goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer, who missed the 2-1 win over Lazio in the UEFA Champions League last 16 with a cold. Kingsley Coman also sat the game out, but defender David Alaba returned to the side following a knock. As ever, Flick has a decision to make on who to start at right-back - Benjamin Pavard or Niklas Süle - and whether to stick or twist in the attacking wide areas occupied by Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry in midweek.
Bayern: Neuer (c) - Pavard, Boateng, Alaba, Davies - Kimmich, Goretzka - Sane, Müller, Gnabry - Lewandowski
Out: Costa (metatarsal), Hoffmann (knee), Nianzou (thigh), Tolisso (thigh)
Doubtful: Coman (muscular)
Coach: Hansi Flick
Stuttgart held the lead for 17 minutes in Munich earlier this season before Coman and Lewandowski combined to turn the game on its head. Die Schwaben's swashbuckling brand of football continues to prove a match for anyone in the Bundesliga and has the club firmly on course for a second successive season of top-flight football with nine rounds of fixtures remaining. Pellegrino Matarazzo's charges are 15 points clear of the relegation zone, and only four adrift of the European qualification spots, in eighth place. Sasa Kalajdzic's rich vein of form has been key, the towering Austrian scoring in seven successive games to take his Bundesliga debut season tally to 13 goals.
VfB has only lost once during that run, whilst winning four. An injury to midfielder Orel Mangala took the shine off last weekend's 2-0 triumph over Hoffenheim. The Belgian's replacement, French teenager Naouirou Ahamada, may have done enough as a substitute to earn his full Bundesliga debut, while forward Nico Gonzalez is an option for the squad once again after completing team training all of this week.
Stuttgart: Kobel - Mavropanos, Anton, Kempf - Silas, Endo, Castro (c), Sosa - Förster, Coulibaly - Kalajdzic
Out: Al Ghaddioui (ankle), Egloff (ankle), Mangala (muscular), Mola (hip)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Pellegrino Matarazzo

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
