Thanks to a thrilling 3-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Bayern Munchen moved one step closer to booking their place in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Frank Lampard’s men were crushed 3-0 in the first leg in London back in February but have continued to develop since returning from lockdown. Bayern established themselves as favorites to lift the trophy when claiming a great victory at Stamford Bridge. Former Arsenal player Serge Gnabry, who scored four times in a 7-2 group-stage win at Tottenham, hit a double before Robert Lewandowski put the icing on the cake. That made it an incredible 27 goals scored in seven straight victories in this competition. After the restart, Hans-Dieter Flick led his side to 11 consecutive Bundesliga wins to clinch the eighth title on the trot before beating Bayer Leverkusen 4-2 in the German Cup final.
Over the years Chelsea have established itself as one of the dominant forces in the English Premier League. But to be quite honest and direct Chelsea faces a mission impossible when visiting Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The Blues are still prone to defensive lapses in concentration, especially on the road, conceding 11 goals in Premier League losses at West Ham, Sheffield United, and Liverpool. However, they played some excellent football in securing a top-four finish, as well as reaching the FA Cup final. Chelsea traveled well during the Champions League group stage, picking up seven points from trips to Lille, Ajax, and Valencia. But when it comes to the players for this match, Chelsea is not fortunate neither both Jorginho and Marcos Alonso are sidelined through suspension, with Cesar Azpilicueta, Christian Pulisic, and Pedro missing the game with an injury.

Lampard will nevertheless encourage his players to produce a professional display to finish the season on a high. But there is low probability that Chelsea can manage to put things up and score against Bayer. So we predict no fireworks here, and win for Bayern for the quarter finals.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
