Belgium meet Portugal at the Estadio de La Cartuja (Sevilla) in the EURO 2020 Round of 16 clash and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Sunday, June 27. Read our reason for Belgium vs Portugal prediction and betting tips.
BELGIUM FACE PORTUGAL IN A LAST-16 CLASH OF TITANS
The holders were made to sweat on Wednesday night and were heading out of the tournament when they trailed to France while shock troops Hungary were leading against Germany. But Cristiano Ronaldo rode to the rescue once more to salvage a 2-2 draw. A German equaliser in Munich saw Portugal finish third in the group, lining up a daunting showdown with Belgium in Seville. Roberto Martinez's men were one of the favourites heading into the tournament and, expectedly, topped Group B ahead of Denmark, Russia and Finland. Key men Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard are getting back to full fitness after injury but Martinez will need all his players performing at their peak to see off Portugal.
RED DEVILS TO WEAR DOWN HOLDERS
The general consensus is that Belgium were solid, rather than spectacular, in topping the Group B table, but it is hard to fault three consecutive victories. Denmark did give the Red Devils some problems when leading 1-0 at half-time, but a strong second period ended with a 2-1 triumph. Russia had earlier been beaten 3-0 and there was a 2-0 success versus Finland in the final round of fixtures.
’Red Devils’ have been very consistent over the last five years, and it’s now about getting every individual at their very best. Kevin De Bruyne has come back from a facial injury in fine form and always seems to team up well with top scorer Romelu Lukaku. It would be nice to see Eden Hazard step up a little bit more, but this is a team which now looks comfortable on the big stage.
TIP #1: Lukaku to score at any time. Lukaku has scored the final goal in two games already and appeals to repeat the trick here. The powerful Inter Milan forward tends to outmuscle defenders when they begin to tire in the closing stages.
Portugal managed to wear down Hungary for a 3-0 win first up but were then torn apart by Germany at the back in a 4-2 loss. Their deciding game against France ebbed and flowed both ways, but a couple of Cristiano Ronaldo penalties helped them to a crucial 2-2 draw. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has netted five times in this tournament to move alongside Iran’s Ali Daei on a record 109 international goals.
CAN PORTUGAL RECUPERATE AHEAD OF ANOTHER HIGH-TEMPO CONTEST?
Group F is the only group that did not feature a Group leader taming at least more than seven points. The final day truly encapsulated why it was called the Group of Death. Portugal has already faced two of the strongest teams in the competition and will hope that their experience can take them past Belgium’s Golden Generation. Cristiano Ronaldo will be on his toes as he prepares to set yet another record!
TIP #2: Cristiano Ronaldo to score at any time. CR7 is the Euro’s top goal scorer both in this edition and all time. On 109 goals for his country, he is now just one strike away from being the all-time top international goal scorer.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
