Benevento and Sassuolo conclude Serie A Week 30 on Monday, and both sides are looking to boost their confidence with a positive result. Read our reasons for Benevento vs Sassuolo prediction and betting tips.
Filippo Inzaghi’s men sit 15th in Serie A after 29 games and have an eight-point gap down to Cagliari in the relegation zone. The Giallorossi haven’t won in eight home games, but have gained confidence from a 1-0 win over Juventus and then a 2-2 draw with Parma in their last two games. Parma fought back twice, and had a goal disallowed, as Dennis Man’s late volley proved enough to take a point off Benevento. This was a big relegation dogfight, although Le Streghe had boosted their position considerably with a shock 1-0 win away to Juventus before the break for international duty. Parma, on the other hand, was still languishing in penultimate place, four points off the safety zone. The deadlock was broken on 23 minutes when Federico Barba jumped to knock down a long free-kick, finding Kamil Glik to react quicker than the Parma players for a tap-in. It was Poland international’s first goal in the Benevento jersey.
Juraj Kucka stung Lorenzo Montipò’s gloves from distance, while Gianluca Lapadula tested Luigi Sepe after combining with Adolfo Gaich. After a save on Gervinho, Parma equalized from the resulting corner, as Montipò parried the Mattia Bani header, but not the Jasmin Kurtic follow-up. Parma thought they had turned it around with Riccardo Gagliolo’s header at the back post on a corner, but it was disallowed after VAR viewing, seemingly for offside. Instead, Benevento restored their advantage six minutes later, on another corner, this time Artur Ionuta’s bullet header on Gianluca Caprari’s set to play. Parma would not give in and Busi skimmed the woodwork before an 88th-minute equalizer when Andreas Cornelius knocked down the long ball for a wonderful Dennis Man left-foot volley. The Ducali nearly won it at the death in a chaotic move, as Osorio’s header was saved, Cornelius' follow-up cleared off the line and Man fired over from close range. Parma was effectively down to nine men at the time, as Man and Andrea Conti clashed heads.
Benevento (4-3-1-2): Montipo; Letizia, Tuia, Glik, Barba; Hetemaj, Schiattarella, Ionita; Iago Falque; Caprari, Lapadula

The Streghe could put another dent in the Europa League hopes of Roberto De Zerbi’s men, as they sit 12 points behind sixth-placed Lazio with 27 points left to play for. Sassuolo extended their winless streak to three games when Inter won the recovered match 2-1 on Wednesday, but face a Benevento side who have struggled at the Ciro Vigorito in recent months. Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi said his ‘250 games as a coach at 41 are a source of pride’, but stressed he always thinks about ‘the next step’. The Neroverdi sit ninth in Serie A after 29 games, but De Zerbi admitted he always looks for a way to improve and explained he could feel the pressure when he signed the deal with CEO Giovanni Carnevali and spoke to former President Giorgio Squinzi in 2018. “With the way, I’m made, I can never enjoy things,” De Zerbi told Nero & Verde. “I always think about the next step. Once I signed the contract with Carnevali and after talking with Squinzi, it was like feeling under scrutiny, because [Eusebio] Di Francesco has passed here, he had left his mark. I had to test myself and prove that I was up for it, but this is always what I think. I hardly stop to think about what’s done well, more easily I think about what we could have done and it’s a defect because you don’t enjoy anything. However, it’s also an advantage, because you never give up.”
The 41-year-old has overseen 111 games at Sassuolo and said he’s ‘very proud of having 250 games in total’ already. “When I stop and look behind, in those few times, I count the games I have coached so far,” he said. “I’m very proud of what I have done. Having 250 games in total at the age of 41, more than 100 with Sassuolo, is a source of pride that not everyone can have but this doesn’t affect me that much. It conditions me to not stop, to go and find what I don’t have. I have always looked for what I don’t have. If you are a thoughtful person like me, you always find that something is missing. In my idea, I put passion, study, evolution, innovation, then there’s an aspect that becomes decisive. Earlier I was talking about the games I have accumulated by now, but I was able to reach this target not only thanks to the club but thanks to the players. They are the ones who have followed me, they are the tool through which I’m criticized or appreciated."

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
