Benevento hopes to boost their chances of survival in Serie A against Udinese, who arrive at the Stadio Vigorito to maintain the gap. Read our reasons for Benevento vs Udinese prediction and betting tips.
The Streghe sit three points above relegation ahead of Serie A Week 33 and the Giallorossi can pull Udinese towards the bottom three with a win over the Friuli. Benevento boss Pippo Inzaghi assures ‘our destiny is in our hands’ still, but there are ‘regrets’ after a 2-2 draw with Genoa. It was a mad start to the match at Marassi, with Benevento twice going in front only to be pegged back by Goran Pandev goals in the opening 21 minutes. The scoreline remained at 2-2 for the rest of the game, though, allowing Cagliari to close the gap following their 1-0 win away to Udinese. “There are regrets because we took the lead twice and conceded on silly situations, then after the break, we had a huge chance with Adolfo Gaich,” said Inzaghi in his press conference. “At the moment, we seem to pay the price for unlucky ricochets at both ends of the pitch, but I saw a good performance in an arena that is notoriously difficult for everyone. I saw a team that is ready to fight and that bodes well for the future. Now it’s up to us to maintain our position on the table, our destiny is in our hands and we’ll look at other teams’ results at the end.”
Benevento (3-5-2): Montipo; Glik, Barba, Caldirola; Letizia, Hetemaj, Viola, Ionita, Improta; Gaich, Lapadula

Injured: Moncini, Foulon, Tuia
Udinese coach Luca Gotti felt his men ‘did everything they could’ in the 1-0 defeat to Cagliari. ‘Another game that we lose because of a penalty’. The Bianconeri are 12th in Serie A after 32 games and sit eight points above relegation with six games left. The Casteddu secured three vital points in the relegation battle, but Gotti felt his home side did all they could to secure the win. “From the outside, it seemed to me that the team tried to do everything they could,” Gotti said to the media. “We also tried to change the set-up several times, let’s talk about another game that we lose because of another penalty I find hard to agree with. In episodes like that, I find it hard to agree with it, like against Torino it becomes decisive for the score. We had several chances, the crossbar, that of [Ilija] Nestorovski, even several balls that passed through the Cagliari box without us being able to materialize.”
The Friuli have lost four of their five last games but Gotti doesn’t believe his players are lacking in motivation. Udinese is the team that has conceded more goals from penalties in the top five European Leagues in 2021: Eight. “As far as Udinese are concerned, there’s no motivational problem,” Gotti said. “The opponents who came here have played games with a lot of heart, but if I see the movie of the match in my head, I see a team that tried to do everything they could.” The coach admitted he missed suspended captain Rodrigo de Paul against the Casteddu. “We can also have this interpretation,” Gotti said. “He’s the player who has found more concreteness in this squad. “The one who has managed the situations that happened to us in the best way.”
Udinese (3-5-2): Musso; Bonifazi, Nuytinck, Samir; Stryger Larsen, De Paul, Walace, Pereyra, Ouwejan; Okaka, Braaf
Suspended: none
Injured: Jajalo, Pussetto, Deulofeu, Nestorovski

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
