The pressure is building on Benevento after just four draws in their last eight games, while Verona is fresh from stopping Juventus. Read our reasons for Benevento vs Verona prediction and betting tips.
Pippo Inzaghi returns to the bench after his touchline ban in the 2-0 defeat to Napoli, with Kamil Glik also back from suspension, but Federico Barba is ruled out instead along with injured Iago Falque and Riccardo Improta. Dries Mertens and Napoli were back in business, sweeping Benevento aside despite the late Kalidou Koulibaly red card. The Belgian celebrated his first start in 74 days by breaking the deadlock, sticking out a foot to redirect Matteo Politano’s deflected effort. Piotr Zielinski had a goal disallowed because Lorenzo Insigne was offside and interfering with the goalkeeper’s view of the shot. Insigne also skimmed the far post before floating in a cross that Politano somehow bundled over the line in a chaotic move. Koulibaly received a rare red card with his second bookable offense. Benevento played below their usual level, so the loss could even be worse. Inzaghi is not in the panic mode, but with goals lacking, they could be in more trouble after this round.
Benevento (4-3-2-1): Montipò; Depaoli, Glik, Caldirola, Letizia; Hetemaj, Viola, Ionita; R Insigne, Caprari; Lapadula
Suspended: Barba
Injured: Improta, Iago Falque
Ivan Juric was still far from content with Verona’s 1-1 draw against Juventus. ‘We made a lot of mistakes and I’ve got regrets.’ Hellas not only grabbed an equalizer with Antonin Barak’s towering header but also forced Wojciech Szczesny into two fingertip saves onto the woodwork. Nonetheless, Juric was not happy in his interview with the media. “We made a lot of mistakes today and I think we didn’t put in a very good performance. I’ve got regrets, to be honest, because there are things we could do better and some banal errors,” said the coach. “There’s a lot of improvement to be made here and that’s why I say we are only at 30 percent of our potential. I think we allowed Juve one chance, not much else, and that’s not easy against Federico Chiesa and Cristiano Ronaldo. I said 30 percent because we’ve only really had time to work together as a group for six weeks, so it’s early days. I saw misplaced passes, the wrong decisions, yet we dominated in the last half-hour and if we had raised the quality level, we could’ve done even more.’’
Jurić noted that his team must make a one-step more, to prove the hard work in training. “At this stage of last season, we were already defined, fully-formed. I think this time, we have a margin for improvement both as individuals and as a team. I don’t know if we’ll be able to do it, though. This season we decided to have a center-forward, whereas last time it was a False 9. Our strikers aren’t quite delivering the goals yet, but I am convinced Kevin Lasagna and Andrea Favilli when he recovers will break through that barrier.”
Verona (3-4-2-1): Silvestri; Dawidowicz, Gunter, Magnani; Faraoni, Tameze, Veloso, Lazovic; Barak, Zaccagni; Lasagna
Suspended: None
Injured: Kalinic, Colley, Ruegg

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
