Can a promoted Arminia Bielefeld past Augsburg and towards safety on Wednesday?
If Bielefeld can preserve their top-flight status this season then Japanese creative midfielder Doan figures to be a large part of the reason why. Last season's Bundesliga 2 winners are just two points above Mainz in the first of the two automatic relegation places. Losing 2-0 to Freiburg last Saturday didn't help, although the goals only being conceded in the final 10 minutes at that match suggests that Uwe Neuhaus's recent switch to a 4-4-2 has been good. It helped them beat Mainz 2-1 last Saturday, with Doan, who had a goal and an assist in that game, enjoying the liberation his role on the right of midfield has given him. Doan is the only Bielefeld player to have multiple goals and assists this season (two each).
The PSV Eindhoven-owned player also found the target in defeat to Bayern Munich on Matchday 4 and will be the man Augsburg will pay the closest attention to if they want to avoid a banana skin. Arne Maier has not yet earned the right to start, fit or not, following his loan arrival from Hertha Berlin, but Reinhold Yabo could regain his spot at left midfield from Cebio Soukou.
Bielefeld: Ortega - Brunner, Pieper, Van der Hoorn, Lucoqui - Doan, Prietl, Hartel, Yabo - Schipplock, Klos (c)
Out: Laursen (knee), Voglsammer (calf)
Doubtful: Maier (knock)
Coach: Uwe Neuhaus
Augsburg won three of their first six Bundesliga games this season but are now five games without a three-point haul. Heiko Herrlich's side nonetheless begins the day six places and points better off than their hosts. They also showed impressive grit in winning a share of the points last time out, Marco Richter scoring a 93rd-minute equalizer in a 2-2 draw with Schalke last Sunday. Richter only recently returned after ankle problems but the former Germany U21 forward is likely to start his first game of the season, especially with Florian Niederlechner suspended and Andre Hahn and Alfred Finnbogason at least questionable.
Only Mainz's Robin Zentner has made more saves (45) than Augsburg's Rafal Gikiewicz (43), who must be wondering what he has to do to earn a Poland cap. His compatriot Robert Gumny is likely to reprise his role at left-back with Iago still nursing a muscular injury.
Augsburg: Gikiewicz - Framberger, Gouweleeuw (c), Uduokhai, Gumny - Caligiuri, Khedira, Strobl, Vargas - Richter - Gregoritsch
Out: Bazee (knee), Hahn (not included), Jensen (ankle), Moravek (thigh), Niederlechner (suspended)
Doubtful: Iago (muscular), Pedersen (muscular)
Coach: Heiko Herrlich

Both teams will be looking to the next match as a possible relegation six-pointer and a tight game is expected. Under 2.5 goals could be a reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
