Bielefeld goalkeeper Stefan Ortega as one of the best in the Bundesliga early in the new season should be in for a busy afternoon when his side takes on the Bayern Munich and their goal-machine Robert Lewandowski on Saturday.
Last season's Bundesliga 2 winners, Bielefeld, have made a promising start on their return to the Bundesliga, picking four points from their opening two games before a narrow 1-0 loss to Werder Bremen in the final game before the international break. Goalkeeper Ortega has been one of their star performers so far and, incredibly, has tallied three assists in all competitions in 2020/21. One player he will not be able to reach with a long pass forward is Cebio Soukou, the Beninese having returned from international duty with a muscular tear. Joan Simun Edmundsson - the first Faroese ever to score in the Bundesliga when he found the target against Cologne on Matchday 2 - could come into the side. The game will come too soon for Arne Maier, though, the Germany U21 midfielder still overcoming a knee injury following his loan arrival from Hertha Berlin.
Bielefeld last lost a competitive match on home soil on 20 October 2019 - to Schalke in the DFB Cup second round. Armenia's last win of five in the Bundesliga against Bayern fell on 16 September 2009.
Bielefeld: Ortega - de Medina, Pieper, van der Hoorn, Lucoqui - Prietl, Hartel - Edmundsson, Doan, Cordova - Klos (c)
Out: Soukou (muscular), Voglsammer (foot)
Doubtful: Brunner (knock), Laursen (knee), Maier (knee)
Coach: Uwe Neuhaus
Thomas Müller was on target and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting opened his account for Bayern Munich with a brace as the reigning DFB Cup holders progressed to the second round thanks to a 3-0 victory over fifth-tier side FC Düren at the Allianz Arena on Thursday. Bayern is in the rather unfamiliar position of fourth heading into Matchday 4, although they could go top if they are better than Eintracht Frankfurt's result against Cologne and RB Leipzig and Augsburg draw. Hansi Flick's side rebounded from their first defeat in 10 months - a shock 4-1 loss to Hoffenheim. They made a complete turnaround in the final game before the international break, beating Hertha Berlin 4-3. Robert Lewandowski scored all four that day and looks to have shaken off an ankle injury picked up on international duty with Poland. Bielefeld is the only current Bundesliga club the 32-year-old is yet to score against, although he has also never faced them. Bayern rests all players who traveled with their national teams over the international break in the DFB Cup first-round clash with fifth-tier FC Düren on Thursday.
Champions should be back up to full strength by the weekend. Leroy Sane will not feature, the former Manchester City man working his way back from a minor knee injury. Kingsley Coman or Douglas Costa - who returned on loan from Juventus in the recent transfer window - could get the nod on the left flank instead.
Thirteen goals scored after three matches is a new club record for Bayern. The record champions have only lost one of their last 43 Bundesliga matches against promoted clubs (W40, D2). Even that was on the final day of 2017/18 to VfB Stuttgart, with the title already clinched.
Bayern: Neuer (c) - Pavard, Süle, Alaba, Hernandez - Kimmich, Goretzka - Gnabry, Müller, Coman - Lewandowski
Out: Nianzou (thigh), Richards (calf), Sane (knee)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Hansi Flick

Bayern had an easy training on Thursday in the DFB cup so this matchup on Saturday won't be ruined by their fatigue even most of their starting lineup had to play during the international break. Bielefeld is a decent team but an away win is the most reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
