Bielefeld has an opportunity to stop Leverkusen's unbeaten run on Saturday but that could be an impossible mission regarding guests form.
Bielefeld had started well on their return to the top flight, drawing their opening game away at Eintracht Frankfurt before a 1-0 win at home to Koln. Things have gone downhill since then with five consecutive defeats, including home losses to Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, and a 5-0 humbling at long-time Bundesliga 2 rivals Union Berlin last time out.
The promoted side are currently in 15th place and just a point clear of Koln in the play-off spot. Goals have been the biggest issue, having scored just four all season with no player getting more than one. Japanese forward Ritsu Doan and Faroe Islander Joan Simun Edmundsson are among those to have found the target, but last season’s Bundesliga 2 top scorer Fabian Klos is yet to open his top-flight account. Bielefeld's captain Klos was the top scorer in Bundesliga 2 last season with 21 goals. Uwe Neuhaus has a fully fit squad to try and pick a winning formula from.
Arminia is the only Bundesliga side to have lost their last five games but remains above the relegation places by a single point. Bielefeld was undefeated against Leverkusen in their previous top-flight campaign (one win, one draw), and haven't lost a league match to them since November 2007.
Bielefeld: Ortega - Brunner, Pieper, Van der Hoorn, Lucoqui - Kunze, Prietl, Hartel - Doan, Soukou - Klos (c)
Out: Maier (personal reasons)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Uwe Neuhaus
Goalscoring hasn’t proven an issue for Leverkusen and their striker Alario. The Argentine has scored three consecutive braces in the Bundesliga to take him onto seven goals for the campaign – behind only Robert Lewandowski in the goal charts. Following three draws to start the season, they have now won four in a row domestically to move into the top four. They and Wolfsburg are the only teams still unbeaten in the league after seven games. That run was in danger last time out as they edged a seven-goal thriller against local rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach, where Leon Bailey also chipped in on top of Alario’s two first-half goals.
Wendell got the nod at left-back that day ahead of new first-choice Daley Sinkgraven, but the Dutchman is expected to be restored by Peter Bosz. One casualty from the international break is midfielder Exequiel Palacios, who is out until the new year after picking up a bad back injury with Argentina.
For the first time in 11 years, Leverkusen is undefeated after the first seven games of a Bundesliga season. Bayer coach Bosz celebrates his 57th birthday on Saturday. He has never faced Bielefeld as a manager but beat them as a Hansa Rostock player in 1998.
Leverkusen: Hradecky - L. Bender (c), S. Bender, Tapsoba, Sinkgraven - Wirtz, Baumgartlinger, Amiri - Bailey, Alario, Diaby
Out: Arias (ankle), Palacios (back), Paulinho (knee)
Doubtful: Aranguiz (Achilles tendon)
Coach: Peter Bosz

In the duels between the struggling teams and ones that are in great form, it is always reasonable to go with the better team and Leverkusen has a good roster and very creative and powerful attack. Away win is the good bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
