Struggling Arminia Bielefeld host Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.
As a promoted side, Bielefeld is used to being the underdogs, and they only had four points on the board at the start of December. Morale-boosting wins over Mainz and Schalke have allowed them to climb into 16th place, respectively four and six points ahead of the aforementioned duo. The division's second-lowest scorers with just nine goals so far (Schalke has eight), need to improve in the final third, where 22-year-old Ritsu Doan has shouldered most of the heavy lifting with two goals and two assists. Captain Fabian Klos, who struck the only goal against Schalke and also has two for the season, is set to spearhead the home side's attack once again.
Bielefeld has never lost from a winning position in 2020/21 (W3, D1), but have lost all nine games in which they conceded first. Arminia is winless in four Bundesliga meetings with Gladbach (D1, L3), dating back to a 4-1 home win in March 2003.
Bielefeld: Ortega - Brunner, Van der Hoorn, Pieper, De Medina - Doan, Prietl, Hartel, Gebauer - Cordova, Klos (c)
Out: Laursen (knee), Niemann (shoulder), Voglsammer (calf)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Uwe Neuhaus
Gladbach has had no such trouble in an attacking sense, averaging almost two goals per game - thanks in large part to captain Stindl (eight goals, one assist). The Foals have drawn more matches (six) than they have won (four), leaving them eighth in the standings over the winter break following the 2-1 defeat at home to Hoffenheim just before Christmas.
Having progressed to the UEFA Champions League last 16, Marco Rose's side will be keen to rediscover their form before meeting Manchester City in February, with Thuram's absence opening up a chance for Breel Embolo to establish himself in the starting line-up. Jonas Hofmann - who tallied two goals and four assists in his first seven league appearances of the season - is also back in contention for the visitors. Both Ramy Bensebaini and Alassane Plea are back in training but doubts for the weekend, while new American full-back Joe Scally is expected at the club next week.
Gladbach: Sommer - Lainer, Ginter, Elvedi, Wendt - Zakaria, Neuhaus - Wolf, Stindl (c), Hofmann - Embolo
Out: Thuram (suspended)
Doubtful: Bensebaini (not included), Plea (muscular)
Coach: Marco Rose

If they want to play the UEFA Champions League in the next season, Gladbach must start to win this kind of match, so an away win is our preferable betting option here.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
