Birmingham host Sheffield Wed in the 5th round of the Championship at St. Andrew's Stadium (Birmingham) on Saturday, October 17 and the match kicks off at 3pm (UK).
MATCH PREVIEW
Birmingham made a winning start to their season courtesy of a 1-0 victory against last year's play-off finalists, Brentford. However, they followed it with three draws - a goalless draw against Swansea and two 1-1 draws against Rotherham and Stoke most recently. They are 8th in the table with 6 points from their little unbeaten run in the first four rounds in the league. On the other hand, it must be noted that the Blues have now won just 1 of their last 19 competitive matches in all competitions (D10-L9).
As for Sheffield Wed, their 2020/2021 season began with a 12 points deduction after an independent disciplinary panel decided that the club has broken the spending rules. With 5 point from their first four league matches they have reduced it to -7 points with win against Cardiff (0-2) on the opening day and draws against Watford and QPR. Their only loss came at the hands of Bristol (2-0) in the third week. This campaign will be solely about survival at any cost for the Owls and it seems like Garry Monk, the manager, has almost impossible task ahead of him.
MATCH ANALYSIS
The opening day win against Brentford ended Birmingham's barren run of 17 games without a win in all competitions. Sadly, it remains their only win this season as the Blues earned the most recent draw against Stoke where Nick Powell rescued a point for the visitors with a late equaliser in a blend home match. Birmingham have managed just three goals from the first four games and Aitor Karanka's side showed little ambition and creativity in this match as well, with a set-piece always looking their likeliest route to goal. . Aitor Karanka felt a bit disappointed afterwards as they conceded from Stoke's only shot on target. Even though they are not losing, they desperately need points to build on their good defensive displays, which, with a little bit consistency, can push them up the table.
Sheffield Wed were denied the three points in the last round when Macauley Bonne scored deep into stoppage time on his Queens Park Rangers debut to rescue a point for his new side. They probably should have won the game, which would have been their first home win since February, had they taken their chances. It is heartbreaking when you concede a goal deep in the stoppage time, but Sheffield Wednesday boss Garry Monk said after the match that he was delighted with the players. They don't lack the fighting spirit and if they continue with that commitment, the Owls be able to get where they need to. If everything goes to the plan, considering that at least 50 points should in theory be enough to guarantee safety, they will need at least 62. Having in mind that they finished last season with 56, it will be a long season for them.

Wyatt grew up in the suburbs of London and he is a big Chelsea fan. As a young boy, he found his love for football, which became an obsession, but when he tried playing it he soon realized that he just wasn't talented enough. Bearing that in mind, Wyatt decided to learn everything there is to know about all the teams and players, with special focus on Premier League and Championship . Wyatt has a big affection for Championship and he is well versed in all the teams and knows their advantages and weak spots very well. He is an economist, and being one makes him good with numbers and also good with the odds. His specialty are BTTS matches.
