Birmingham host Swansea at the St. Andrew’s Stadium (Birmingham) in the 39th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Friday, April 2. Read our reasons for Birmingham vs Swansea prediction and betting tips.
Lee Bowyer’s appointment has been greeted with wholesale approval and players have also spoken positively about his arrival. His team is next in action on April 2, when promotion-chasing Swansea come to St Andrew's. As things stand the team is currently 21st, one place above the relegation zone after beating Reading 2-1 and losing at Watford 3-0 in their first two games under the 44-year-old. Meanwhile, the Swans automatic promotion hopes have been damaged by back-to-back defeats to Cardiff and Bournemouth, but with nine games to go there is plenty left to play for. While the form has been poor in recent weeks, within the Swans squad there is the capability of better performances as we have seen at other points so far this season.
As the March international break has come to a close, it will be a tricky final few weeks of the Championship season for Birmingham who are three points clear of the relegation zone with eight games of their league season left to play. To keep the club in the league, Bowyer’s Blues must either stay ahead of Rotherham, who have four games in hand, or overhaul Coventry, Derby, Nottingham, or Huddersfield. However, this is not the first time Blues have been in this position.
Since taking control of Blues in October 2016 Trillion Trophy Asia and the people behind other major shareholders have presided over two 19th placed finishes, one 17th – when Blues had to overcome a points deduction - and last season’s 20th. With that in mind, it certainly seems as though recently appointed Blues boss Lee Bowyer has his work cut out. With their position in the standings and the fact that they have won just 3 of their last 14 league games, the Blues clearly have a battle on to avoid relegation this season, starting with the Swansea visit.
On the other hand, the international break came a week too late for Steve Cooper and his tired and leggy squad. Yes, it’s a time to rest and assess the players, but of course, there are a fair few away with their countries, not at all assisting the final run-in for the Swans. With only nine games to go, and a possible twenty-seven points up for grabs, which most certainly won’t be achieved, we see Swansea sat in the third spot in the championship - and focussing forwards on the next six weeks of the season.
Returning to the championship on Good Friday, away at Birmingham is the first test. A new manager in Lee Bowyer, and a return to form face the Swans for that clash. It certainly isn’t the first time a team playing their worst football find a new manager then turn it around just in time for Swansea’s visit. Nevertheless, this away game in Birmingham has to be a win - a draw won’t be the end of the world, but lose this and things will really start to fall apart. Swansea have a daunting task of catching up with Watford in 2nd so they better start preparing for the second successive play-offs.

Birmingham meet Swansea having previously won none of their last six league matches against the Swans (D4, L2) since a 3-2 away win in November 2008 and Swansea are looking to record consecutive away league wins at Birmingham for the first time, after winning 3-1 in this exact fixture last season.
Birmingham have won two of their last three home league matches (L1), as many as in their previous 24 at home in the Championship (W2, D7, L15) while Swansea have never lost three consecutive league games under Steve Cooper, last doing so in March 2019 under former boss Graham Potter.
We expect Swansea to edge out the three points here and the BettingKick’s Birmingham vs Swansea prediction is: Swansea win
