Blackburn host Coventry at the Ewood Park (Blackburn) in the 33rd round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, February 27. Read our reasons for Blackburn vs Coventry prediction and betting tips.
Blackburn are going through a bad spell at the moment, coming into this match on the back of five consecutive defeats. However, three of those came away from home, while all five were very narrow losses by a single goal margin. However, as a result, the injury-stricken Blackburn have now slipped down to 15th in the standings and will need a win to cross the magic 40-point mark. As for the visitors, the Sky Blues are just four points above the relegation zone in the 20th having played at least one more game than after five matches without a win (L3, D2). After their latest 1-0 away defeat against promotion candidates Swansea in midweek and with the season picking up a frantic pace, the team better find solutions to their problems, or they might find themselves right in the middle of a relegation dogfight soon.
Blackburn’s form is in stark contrast to their encouraging early season and, naturally, boss Tony Mowbray is coming under increased scrutiny. There are sections of the Rovers fanbase that have seemingly seen enough from Mowbray and would like to see him moved on, whilst some are calling for patience. Horrendously out of form and in dreadful need of points to alter the tide, Tony Mowbray is in desperate need of galvanizing his squad ahead of a crucial set of fixtures, with the relentless scheduling showing no signs of abating until the end of March.
Against Watford on Wednesday evening goals from Harvey Elliott and Ben Brereton were not enough to conquer the promotion-chasing Hornets after defensive mistakes gifted Watford their opening two goals in the contest with the lapses epitomizing the club's current state of affairs. The result leaves Tony Mowbray's side sliding down the Championship table and altering their attention to what is below them, rather than what is ahead.
On the other hand, for Coventry, the biggest objective is surely to stay up and anything better than that will be a bonus. They still look like they’re trying to find their feet in their long-awaited return to the second-tier of English football, but are currently safe from the drop. However, the Sky Blues’ three defeats in four games (W1) have sucked them back into a precarious position in the league. Coventry are winless in 12 of their last 15 overall matches and had failed to keep clean sheets in nine of their past twelve games.
Nevertheless, Mark Robins remains convinced that his Coventry battlers can beat the drop this season. The Sky Blues competed almost every step of the way against another of the Championship’s top sides on Wednesday night, going down to an infuriating set-piece goal at promotion-chasing Swansea. That came just days after beating second from top Brentford 2-0 at St Andrew’s – two performances which give the manager plenty of confidence going into the last 14 games of the campaign.

Blackburn meet Coventry looking to complete a league double over Coventry for the first time since 1948-49 after winning comfortably 4-0 in the reverse fixture in October. Both teams are tied at 7 wins from their last 19 meetings. However, one must take into account that this is Coventry’s first away league match at Blackburn since November 1998 in the Premier League.
Going on, most of their head-to-head clashes over the years have had goals in plenty, and particularly so the ones at this venue. By the looks of things, we expect a high-scoring affair this Saturday at Ewood Park.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
