Blackburn host Preston at the Ewood Park (Blackburn) in the 29th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 7.45 pm (UK) on Friday, February 12.
BLACKBURN VS PRESTON MATCH ANALYSIS
Blackburn have been blowing hot and cold recently and are coming into this match on the back of a 1-0 defeat at QPR. Prior to that, the Rovers had strung two wins together for the first time in their last nine games (W4, D2, L3). They are heading into this weekend in 8th, hoping they could end up closer to the top-six and play-off berths. As for Preston, the Lilywhites had lost back-to-back league games at Sheffield Wed and against Rotherham at home. They are sitting in 11th place and a win at Blackburn could see them leapfrog the Rovers if other results go their way.
Blackburn, a name which has been quite big in the English footballing scene for the past two decades, find themselves in the 8th spot with 39 points from 27 games played – a not so great record considering their excellent start to the season. The Rovers might seem to be struggling at the moment with 4 wins in 11 Championship games, but have shown their defensive prowess in the last few rounds, having consistently held the games below 2.5 goals in most of them (8/8). The goal drought, on the other hand, has coincided with their main man, Adam Armstrong’s poor form.
His early season form was merely remarkable, plundering in an astonishing 14 goals in his first 14 league games as both he and Ivan Toney molded a prolific record through till December. Since then goals have dried up, with just three goals in his last 12 fixtures but even during Saturday's defeat to QPR, Armstrong's intelligent craft was evident with a series of deceptive runs and the forward displayed his ability to drive the team forward, intertwining acceleration with ball control. The Rovers understand they will lose him in summer, but they still need his goals to make a push for the play-offs.
Preston, on the other hand, have been very busy in this transfer window, having signed eight players, seven of which were loanees, including three on deadline day. With only five permitted to be used in a matchday squad, that left Alex Neil facing the prospect of leaving two of them in the stands and it remains to be seen whether this will improve them for the rest of the campaign. The early signs, however, are not encouraging.
Against Rotherham
on Saturday, Preston Started on the wrong foot as the Millers went ahead
courtesy of an own goal after just 15 seconds when Lilywhites defender Joe
Rafferty headed Freddie Ladapo's shot beyond goalkeeper Daniel Iversen. Preston
dominated the rest of the half but were unable to force an equaliser - and then
went 2-0 down after 55 minutes when Ben Wiles struck. Ched Evans pulled a goal
back for the hosts 10 minutes later, but Rotherham managed to hold on for a
vital win, while Preston were left with the 4th defeat in the last 6 matches (D1,
L1) in the second-tier.

The last time out the two local rivals met, Rovers pulled off a shock 3-0 win at Deepdale in the reverse fixture on November 24, and the Lilywhites will be out for revenge against Tony Mowbray's men when they come face-to-face again at the end of the week.
Apart from Armstrong’s poor form and his head allegedly somewhere else, Blackburn look to have been dealt a major injury blow, with key player Lewis Holtby set for a scan after suffering a re-occurrence of the knee injury that saw him miss much of last season.
Meanwhile, at Preston, there have been some positive signs that their loan policy could pay off after striker Ched Evans, who completed a permanent move to the club - having initially joined on loan from Fleetwood Town, scored his first Lilywhites goal against Rotherham last weekend.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
