Blackburn host Stoke at Ewood Park (Blackburn) in the 24th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, January 16.
BLACKBURN VS STOKE MATCH ANALYSIS
The Rovers head into the weekend after their 2-0 win against Birmingham at St.Andrew’s in the league and an FA Cup elimination in Round 3 at the hands of League One side Doncaster at home (0-1). They are blowing hot and cold at the moment, but are well-positioned in the 11th place to push for the play-offs. Stoke, on the other hand, head into this match sitting in the 8th place in the Championship with 35 points and have done well to be in the play-off mix despite missing key players. The Potters come into this match on the back of a 0-1 home defeat to Bournemouth on January 2 in the league and a 0-4 defeat against Leicester in their respective Round 3 FA Cup tie. They are without a win in five in all competitions (D2, L3) and could do well with points at the Ewood Park.
Against Birmingham, Adam Armstrong was again on target as Championship top scorers Blackburn Rovers beat out-of-form Birmingham City at St Andrew's. Armstrong, the league’s top-scorer, got his 17th goal of the season, and Bradley Dack ensured all three points with a curling effort in the injury time. The Rovers came into the game hoping the new year would kick-start a turn of form. And even though they didn't really function on the day, the positives were the result and the clean sheet.
However, they returned to losing ways in the FA Cup next, suffering an FA Cup upset against Doncaster. The hosts had beaten Doncaster earlier this season in the EFL Cup, but could not repeat the feat second time around. It’s the continuation of their poor run in the competition in recent years, with Blackburn last reaching the fourth round in the 2016/17 season. More importantly to them, they rise to 11th in the league, five points off the play-offs.
As for Stoke, despite missing important players, Michael O'Neill's side have enjoyed some good performances, and the Potters are in a good place after being defeated only once in their last six Championship matches (W1, D4). The Potters are just two points off the playoff places, but Michael O'Neill might rue a missed opportunity to get there after not being able to turn some of their draws into wins.
They are on a five-game barren run that includes draws against Coventry away and Nottingham Forest at home, a loss to Tottenham in the League Cup (1-3), plus a 0-4 FA Cup exit against Leicester. One positive for Stoke is the return of Ryan Shawcross to their starting XI. The Potters captain, who was capped by England in 2012, has spent much of the past 18 months recovering injuries. The Potters have also signed Wales international winger Rabbi Matondo from Schalke 04 on loan in hope of adding more goals and assists.

Blackburn have failed to score in eight of their last 12 league matches against Stoke (W2 D2 L8), while Stoke are looking to complete a league double over Blackburn for the first time since 2011/12.
Blackburn fans will look for Armstrong, the league's top-scorer, and Harvey Elliott, who has more Championship assists (6) and has created more chances in open play (34) than any other Rovers player in 2020/21.
However, they will have to be on top of their game to break the resolute Stoke defense which have shipped just one goal from open play in their last 10 matches. Moreover, those last 10 games have seen just nine goals.
BettingKick’s Blackburn vs Stoke prediction is: Under 2.5 goals

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
