Blackpool host Peterborough at the Bloomfield Road (Blackpool) in the rescheduled 29th round of League One and the match kicks off at 7 pm (UK) on Tuesday, March 23. Read our reasons for Blackpool vs Peterborough prediction and betting tips.
Manager Neil Critchley was full of praise for his side, following the 2-0 win at Oxford which made it nine games without defeat for Blackpool. The Seasiders remain in the play-off picture after a professional display at Oxford on Saturday and are 10th in the standings after their fourth consecutive away win without conceding. On the other hand, the Posh didn’t lose and they remain second in League One within striking distance of leaders Hull, but faces on the Peterborough players told the true story at the end of an admittedly pulsating 3-3 draw at Rochdale at the weekend.
The Seasiders were the dominant side at the Kassam Stadium, comfortably dispatching Oxford with two first-half goals from Kenny Dougall and Dan Ballard. Blackpool, depleted by injuries to seven key first-team players, extended their unbeaten run to nine games (W5, D4). Neil Critchley’s side did the damage during a magnificent first 45 minutes, where they had Oxford pinned back in their own half through a combination of constant pressing and clever build-up play.
The result, Blackpool’s first-ever win at the Kassam Stadium, sees them move into the top 10 for the first time since September, sitting just three points off sixth-placed Charlton with four games in hand. Brilliant Blackpool have now made it four away wins on the spin for the first time since 2007 leapfrogging play-off rivals Oxford in the table in the process. Midfielder Matty Virtue became the latest player to suffer a knock, which took a bit of a shine away from the victory, but the Seasiders have proven they can cope successfully all season with injury setbacks.
On the other hand, the Rochdale match was a huge opportunity missed for Peterborough. Posh should have been preparing for a tough game at Blackpool on Tuesday sitting just a point off top spot with two games in hand and four points clear of improving Sunderland. They could have closed the goal difference gap on their two biggest rivals which could well be important come the final reckoning at the beginning of May, but instead, they flopped.
They froze, and from a position of total control against a bottom team with an appalling home record, they required a last-gasp penalty from top scorer Jonson Clarke-Harris to claim even a point. The full effect of the last two away games - one point and five goals conceded against two poor sides - won’t be known just yet. Posh can’t drop out of the automatic promotion places on Tuesday as Sunderland are without a game, but they have the toughest of run-ins so dropping points in this manner against this standard of opposition is a potentially ruinous moment.

Blackpool meet Peterborough having previously won four of their last eight matches against the Posh in League One (D2, L2). They have scored 13 and conceded 13 during these matches, scoring in all but one match against the visitors. Blackpool can do a double over the Posh here after celebrating a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture in November.
Blackpool have two wins from their last seven matches in League One (D2, L3). They have failed to score in three and have managed three clean sheets during this run. Meanwhile, Peterborough have lost just one of their last 10 matches in League One (L6, D3) and have managed to score in all but two matches during this run.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
