Bologna is close to the 40-point mark, while La Viola needs to gain Serie A's survival and is hovering just three points above the relegation zone. Read our reasons for Bologna vs Fiorentina prediction and betting tips.
Sinisa Mihajlovic maintained Bologna had ‘no chance’ after the penalty and red card in their 5-0 defeat to Atalanta while revealing the club has to sell players this summer. The Rossoblu had a strong start in Bergamo for 20 minutes, but after Ruslan Malinovskyi’s opener, they crumbled, the Jerdy Schouten red card destroying any hope they had at the dawn of the second half. Schouten went studs up on the inside of Cristian Romero’s knee and received a straight red without the need for VAR. “We should’ve been 2-0 up after 20 minutes, then there was the penalty and the red card, the rest of the game was irrelevant. It’s not the first time, it’s a pity we had to deal with the referee,” Mihajlovic told the media. “When it was 1-0, it remained a balanced game and both teams could’ve scored. If you give a penalty for that, you’ll have 10 per game, except they only give those penalties against us and not in our favor.”
Mihajlovic met with President Joey Saputo this week and his future at Bologna remains a mystery. “In an ideal world, I’d keep these players and sign a striker and defender. I realize that because of the pandemic, we have to sell. I understand that. I hope nobody will want to buy, so at least we’ll keep the current squad, but I doubt that’ll happen. We have to meet again and then we’ll see. The objective is to improve the squad. The President is just as ambitious as I am, but it remains to be seen if we can manage it. When deciding whether to continue together, we have to take all these issues into account, planning, strategy, having the same approach. Look at Atalanta, they’ve improved every year, they are perhaps the only team in Italy who play with a real European mentality. It’s what we’d like to do as well, pressing high, passing it quickly, going for the victory. We always cause the bigger clubs problems precisely because of that approach.”

Fiorentina coach Beppe Iachini believes La Viola ‘can’t look at the Serie A table’ and reveals the players asked him to go into training retreat. The Tuscans are hovering just three points above the relegation zone with five games remaining. They face Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Sunday. "We have been working on the mentality and tactics. When I arrived the players were worried, so I needed to work on this, as well as improving defensively,” Iachini said at a press conference. I told the players we cannot look at the league table and what others are doing. We need to play our football, be organized, focused because every detail makes a difference. No calculations on our end. We need big performances, and not worry. We need to get the best from every match, and I was happy that at the start of the week the players asked me to have a 'ritiro' a day earlier to prepare the game at Bologna,” the coach revealed. Bologna is doing well, Mihajlovic has done a great job and they have quality players. I expect Bologna to be angry after their loss against Atalanta. They have good players in every position, and are coached very well by Mihajlovic."

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
