Juventus have no other option but to win in Bologna on Sunday and just hope one of their rivals in the top four battle slip up. Read our Bologna vs Juventus prediction and betting tips.
Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic revealed he had to fight back the tears when he returned to the Stadio Bentegodi and predicted the AIA will appoint a ‘proper referee’ for their game against Juventus. The Rossoblu picked up a 2-2 draw against Hellas Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi on Monday. In 2019, Mihajlovic surprisingly showed up at the stadium for the same fixture, just a few hours after his first cycle of chemotherapy. “It was moving to return here, I must say I had to fight back the tears,” Mihajlovic told the media. “The stairs seemed endless two years ago, this time around not as much. Even the technical area seemed smaller than two years ago. I am feeling well now, but the result hasn’t changed as two years ago we picked another draw.”
It was strange to see when the AIA has announced the referees for the last round of fixtures that Valeri will be on the pitch for Bologna-Juventus and Giacomelli in the VAR room. Bologna host Juventus at the Stadio Dall'Ara in the last game of the season on Sunday with the Bianconeri in the race for a top-four finish. “I am sure they will appoint a proper referee given that this season we’ve had a few debutants that made some mistakes,” the coach said. “They will appoint Valeri or Giacomelli, I am sure about it, I can bet anything you want. Then we’ll have to play the game. On paper, we have no chances, but we’ll try. Cagliari seemed to have no chances against Milan, but football is nice because you never know how a game will end up.”
Bologna (4-2-3-1): Ravaglia; Mbaye, Tomiyasu, Soumaoro, De Silvestri; Schouten, Svanberg; Orsolini, Vignato, Barrow; Palacio
Suspended: Dijks, Soriano
Injured: Hickey, Dominguez, Danilo
Andrea Pirlo, fresh from winning the Coppa Italia with a 2-1 triumph over Atalanta this week, needs another big win against Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men this weekend. Juventus sit fifth in Serie A, one point behind Napoli and Milan, who play Hellas Verona and Atalanta respectively and one of them needs to drop points for the Bianconeri to qualify for the Champions League next season. The Bianconeri have a great record against the Rossoblu in Serie A and could extend their winning streak to 10 consecutive games. Pirlo must cope without suspended Rodrigo Bentancur, but on injury setbacks ahead of the final game, whilst Bologna is missing some players through injuries and suspensions.
Andrea Pirlo confirmed himself as Juventus coach after the Coppa Italia triumph, but the Old Lady will reportedly decide on Monday. The media claims the Bianconeri have always considered the hypothesis of confirming Pirlo for another season, but the former midfielder’s future is still uncertain. Juventus have been through a difficult season and are fighting for a place in the Champions League on Sunday. There’s no shortage of candidates for the Juventus job, according to several reports in Italy, where Gennaro Gattuso, Zinedine Zidane, Max Allegri, and Simone Inzaghi have been mentioned as possible successors. But Pirlo stressed he wants to continue after the 2-1 win over Atalanta on Wednesday, securing the 19th trophy for President Andrea Agnelli and his second. A place in the Champions League could only help Pirlo’s case, and the media reveals the Bianconeri will not decide until the season is over.
Juventus (4-4-2): Szczesny; Danilo, De Ligt, Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Cuadrado, McKennie, Rabiot, Chiesa; Dybala, Ronaldo
Suspended: Bentancur
Injured: none

Cristiano Ronaldo could become the third player scoring 30 or more goals in two different Serie A seasons. Gunnar Nordahl and Stefano Nyers both managed the feat in 1949-50 and 1950-51, the only two so far. BettingKick’s Bologna vs Juventus prediction is: Both teams to score.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
