Bologna will host Parma in the Emilia-Romagna derby at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara on Monday in the last game of the second round in the Seria A.
Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side was defeated 2-0 by Milan in the opening fixture, in the match that was dominated by Zlatan Ibrahimovic brace. Roberto Soriano had his shot deflected wide within 90 seconds after a defensive error, Ismael Bennacer wasted a huge opportunity when Ibrahimovic’s pull-back from the by-line surprised Lukasz Skorupski, but then Zlatan broke the deadlock on the 35th minute with a towering header on Theo Hernandez’s cross. Moments later, Ibra created the chance with a give-and-go with Rebic but was denied by the last-ditch Danilo tackle. Bologna threatened, Hernandez had a crucial defensive header to prevent Riccardo Orsolini tapping in a Rodrigo Palacio cross.
The match was over when Orsolini tripped Bennacer on the edge of the area, so Ibrahimovic converted the penalty with a fierce shot into the top corner. Musa Barrow had two shots blocked down by Matteo Gabbia and Simon Kjaer, while Skorupski was ready for spectacular Theo Hernandez chest and volley combination. Gianluigi Donnarumma finally had a save to make, getting down incredibly quickly to palm away the Andreas Skov Olsen shot on a Barrow through ball. Bologna threatened again in the final minutes, as Federico Santander thumped the woodwork from a heavy angle on a free-kick and the rebound was fired over the bar.
Mitchell Dijks had been threatening to get sent off all game and it finally happened with his second yellow card for holding of Saelemaekers’ shirt.
Shoring up the defense must be a priority for coach Mihaljlovic. Bologna struggled to keep the ball out of their net mightly in their 19-20 campaign. If they have any chance at a top-half finish they must see a huge reduction in the number of goals they concede, especially with the football they play. Bologna has conceded in their last 34 games, an all-time Serie A record. Gary Medel is available again following his ban.
Bologna (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; De Silvestri, Danilo, Tomiyasu, Denswil; Schouten, Medel; Orsolini, Soriano, Barrow; Palacio
Suspended: Dijks
Injured: None
Parma was in no threat of relegation last season, finishing 11th in Serie A. They won three of their final four matches including a 4-3 win at Lecce on the final day. That didn't save manager D'Aversa who was sacked in August, the club was unhappy with an apparent lack of unity and enthusiasm. Parma struggled to get new coach Fabio Liverani’s tactics and lacked creativity in the 2-0 loss to Napoli. None of the sides were allowed too much space in the opponents’ halves and Parma pressed high up the field so the first half closed without any real highlights. Parma encouraged with that display started the second half brightly, the match intensity increased early on, Napoli pushed up hard for a goal but Parma was equally organized at the back. New Napoli signing Osimhen was brought on after 60 minutes and got involved immediately, as he forced Iacoponi to make a poor clearance and the ball falls to Mertens, who finished the action from the penalty spot for Napoli lead. Napoli was a different side after the Nigerian’s entrance, with Lorenzo Insigne hitting the post before he made it 2-0 when Sepe couldn’t hold Lozano’s shot and the ball fell perfectly for the Italy international. Yann Karamoh had come on to give Parma an injection of energy and pace, and he caused some concern for the visitors. But Napoli managed well and controlled the match.
Parma needs to find a replacement for Dejan Kuluševski, the now Juventus man was a key part of the offense in Parma. It will be huge shoes to fill for anyone and that could be the biggest problem for Liverani who is trying to make a complete shift in their football philosophy.
Parma has not kept a clean sheet in 15 Serie A games, a club record. Left-back Riccardo Gagliolo and winger Gervinho are both injured for Parma.
Parma (4-3-1-2): Sepe; Laurini, Iacoponi, Bruno Alves, Darmian; Grassi, Hernani, Kurtic; Kucka; Inglese, Karamoh
Suspended: None
Injured: Pezzella, Gagliolo, Gervinho, Scozzarella

Bologna and Parma are prone to make major defensive mistakes and their streaks of conceded goals are the main reason we think both teams to score is the most reasonable bet for this match.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
