Mid-table neighbors Bologna and Udinese will face each other at the Renato Dall'Ara Stadium on Wednesday.
Sinisa Mihajlovic expected a ‘balanced’ game between Bologna and Fiorentina, and his prediction was right after a goalless draw in Firenze. Bologna has a four draws streak and remains a very tough opponent to beat this season. The injury list remained extensive, with Gary Medel, Nicola Sansone, Ibrahima Mbaye, Lukasz Skorupski, and Federico Santander are out of action, but Aaron Hickey, Jerdy Schouten, and Matias Svanberg all returned against Viola, so they earned a second clean sheet in a year.
Mihajlovic hopes to secure safety as soon as possible, but then start targeting another objective, like finishing in the top half of the table or setting a new points record as he won’t settle for 12th place in the standings for the end of the season. The hosts will be without the services of Lorenzo De Silvestri, who had just returned to the fold from a layoff. Sansone, Skorupski, and Mbaye are still long-term absentees. Federico Santander and Gary Medel are also unavailable.
Bologna (4-2-3-1): Angelo da Costa; Takehiro Tomiyasu, Danilo, Nehuén Paz, Mitchell Dijks; Jerdy Schouten, Nicolás Domínguez; Emanuel Vignato, Roberto Soriano, Riccardo Orsolini; Rodrigo Palacio.
Udinese coach Luca Gotti was visibly frustrated with his team’s 4-1 defeat to Juventus. ‘We made mistakes that are unusual to us.’ Rodrigo De Paul’s opener was disallowed for handball, then Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace, a Federico Chiesa goal, and late Paulo Dybala strike sealed the result. Udinese created plenty of opportunities too, as they hit the woodwork twice and scored with Marvin Zeegelaar. It is a second consecutive defeat for Udinese, who lost 2-0 to Benevento just before the Christmas break.
Ignacio Pussetto went off at half-time after an awkward landing, but it seems as if the knee and ankle have swollen up. Udinese has confirmed he has damaged the cruciate ligament in his right knee and will be evaluated later. The 25-year-old has played 11 Serie A games and has contributed three goals and two assists in the process.
Udinese manager Luca Gotti will not have Stefano Okaka, Bram Nuytinck, and Mato Jajalo available for the trip to Bologna. Winger Gerard Deulofeu is a major doubt. The visitors welcome back defender Rodrigo Becão from his one-match suspension.
Udinese (3-5-2): Juan Musso; Hidde ter Avest, Kevin Bonifazi, Samir; Jens Stryger Larsen, Rodrigo De Paul, Walace, Roberto Pereyra, Marvin Zeegelaar; Kevin Lasagna, Federico Forrestieri

Bologna had a little luck against Viola after Ribery hit the crossbar but overall performance was good and Palacio missed a great chance for the win. After a series of draws, it could be a home win for Bologna.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
