BOURNEMOUTH VS BIRMINGHAM MATCH ANALYSIS
The Cherries parted ways with manager Jason Tindall after six months in charge after their slide in the Championship continued with their fourth successive league defeat, this time around against second-tier strugglers Sheffield Wed at home (1-2). They do remain in 6th but are slipping further away from the automatic promotion spot and are risking leaving the top-six if they fail to win here. On the other hand, with just six victories and 28 points from 27 games, Aitor Karanka's side are 19th in the standings, lingering above the relegation zone. After a surprise 1-0 win against play-off hopefuls Middlesbrough on January 16, the Blues felt a renewed sense of vigor. However, it wasn’t meant to last. The visitors have lost only two league games on their travels, compared to nine defeats at home, and it’s their away form that’s keeping them above the red.
Bournemouth are among the league’s best scoring teams this season (40), level with Reading and only worse than Blackburn (41) and Brentford (45). It is a sign of doing something right despite their huge dip in form since mid-January. However, the decision to sack Tindall was taken after midweek’s defeat against relegation candidates Sheffield Wed. Recent performances have been lacklustre, to say the least, with tactical direction seemingly lost, but also a host of individual errors, which Tindall couldn't control.
As for his latest match in the dugout, Callum Paterson gave the Owls a deserved first-half lead, but Bournemouth were much improved in the second half and Junior Stanislas leveled from the penalty spot after Sam Surridge was brought down. But with the hosts chasing a winner, Wednesday hit them on the break as Rhodes headed home to secure the last-minute win. It was probably the heart-breaking manner of the way the Cherries were left empty-handed that caused Tindall’s swift sack.
On the other hand, Birmingham boss Aitor Karanka has also been under pressure to play with more attacking intent, with his team continuing to struggle for goals in the Championship. Only one league win in ten matches (D3, L6) has put the Spaniard in a position where he will still have doubts about the change in his players’ mentality. After ending their four-game streak without a goal and a six-game run without a win at Middlesbrough (0-1) on January 16, the Blues desperately need more consistency all around.
However, the Blues have been busy in this transfer window as they are pushing to escape the bottom. They signed Manchester City striker Keyendrah Simmonds and brought Southampton defender Yan Valery on loan until the end of the season. The Blues have also completed a deal for Aberdeen striker Sam Cosgrove in a bid to stop the slide as their wait for a home win goes on after they were pegged back by Coventry in the meeting of landlords and tenants at St Andrew's.

Bournemouth will try to do a double over Birmingham on their return to the Championship after the Cherries defeated the Blues 3-1 in the reverse fixture in early November. The two teams last shared the league in season 2016/17 and the host have an impressive overall record against visitors, with 7 wins to Birmingham’s 1 in 9 meetings.
The club is yet to appoint the caretaker in charge and the visitors, who are looking to keep four consecutive away league clean sheets for the first time since August 1998, could exploit the fact that the Cherries might not know that until the weekend.
BettingKick’s Bournemouth vs Birmingham prediction is: Both teams to score – NO.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
