AFC Bournemouth and Blackburn Rovers open their 2020/2021 campaign at Vitality Stadium (Bournemouth) on Saturday, 12 September and the game kicks off at 3pm (UK).
The Cherries ended their five-year stay in the Premier League last season when they got relegated on the last day of the campaign, with Aston Villa finishing just above them with their draw against West Ham United. Bournemouth parted ways with manager Eddie Howe, following their relegation and they his assistant Jason Tindall will replace him at the helm.
Tony Mowbray's side are in a bit of a financial difficulty at the beginning of the new season, and by not being able to attract a replacement for sponsorship they have further aggravated that situation. They are in need of a new goalkeeper, centre-back and left-back and a new centre-forward as well. They were only seven points below a play-off berth, but they lacked contribution from the whole team, not only their top five players.
BOURNEMOUTH VS BLACKBURN MATCH ANALYSIS
Eddie Howe's Bournemouth's career spanned over 23 years and this new season will definitely usher a new era for the club. They might have missed the chance to freshen things a bit, but Tindall knows the club and they are hoping he will take them quickly back to the top flight. They need to bring more players in as they are in danger of losing their star players to the bigger clubs - Nathan Ake has left for Manchester City, and the Cherries are still sweating over Josh King, Callum Wilson and Dale Brooks, who are all targets for the Premier League clubs.
The uncertainty surrounding their manager and the players at the start of the new campaign makes it very difficult to predict how their season will pan out, but in any scenario they should at least contest for one of the play-off spots. If he West Country club does not signed any players in the following week, they will have to rely on their last year's signings like Arnaut Danjuma, who hasn't made expected impact last year.
Rovers core players were Tosin Adarabioyo who returned to City from his loan spell, Darragh Lenihan in defense, Ryan Nyambe at left-back, Lewis Travis in midfield and Adam Armstrong at the wing. They need more players suited to Mowbray's 4-3-3, and they might add some young prospects from their famed academy.
They might have just enough quality to avoid the danger zone, but until they get their club in order financially, the manager must do his part on the pitch with what he has. If anything, Blackburn will be expected to give everybody a game and besides Bradley Dack and Lewis Holtby, who are top of the bunch, every other squad member will graft and put in the hard work.

Bournemouth and Blackburn last played against each other in 2018 in Carabao Cup, where the Cherries won (3-2). Apart from that match they have played four more games in the last ten years and both have two victories two their names. While both team could be in better situation at the beginning of the 20/21 season, each in their own way, a slight advantage should be given to a side with more Premier League experience lately.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
