Bournemouth host Swansea at the Vitality Stadium (Bournemouth) in the 37th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 7.45 pm (UK) on Tuesday, March 16. Read our reasons for Bournemouth vs Swansea prediction and betting tips.
Saturday's painful 3-2 home defeat against Barnsley, who are now five points clear of Bournemouth in the standings, saw the Cherries drop to seventh in the Championship table. Seen by many as a must-win game if any hopes of a play-off place was still up for grabs, with 10 games to go, the Cherries now need to start winning. The players need to lift themselves ahead of the midweek’s clash with Swansea, who kept themselves firmly in the mix for automatic promotion with a battling performance at Luton where a 1-0 win over Nathan Jones' side lifted the Swans up to second place in the Championship.
On Saturday afternoon, Michal Haslik had put the Barnsley into the lead on 16 minutes before Arnaut Danjuma leveled for Bournemouth midway through the first half. Dominic Solanke then fired Cherries into the lead before the break only for Dominik Frieser to find a leveler on the hour mark for the visitors. And with 10 minutes left, substitute Morris’s header gave the away side all three points and put a huge dent in Cherries’ Championship play-off aspirations.
It was the tale of two different Bournemouth teams for Jonathan Woodgate’s side. One in the first half that wanted to fight and one in the second half that did not want to do it. He would know that is not acceptable but there are still plenty of twists and turns to come. However, what seems certain is that Bournemouth need to take a look at themselves and put in more effort and intensity in these last 10 games if they want to go anywhere from here.
On the other hand, Cooper’s gritty Swans passed another tough test last time out as they dug in and won another three points against one of the league's better-drilled sides in Luton. It was always going to be a tough test for the Swans. Nathan Jones and Steve Cooper two Welsh managers with their own ways of playing. One in Nathan Jones, quick and direct but with clever running off the ball, the other in Cooper, a more thoughtful passing game with that quick attacking strategy when an opening is made, it was always going to be close.
The Swansea boss admitted his side have been more pragmatic of late as they continue to adjust to the rigours of what is a brutal campaign. However, since losing to Bristol when the Swans played really well, they have got 10 points out of the last 12. One more win and it’s the play-offs guaranteed as far as they are concerned as Cooper moves on to struggling Bournemouth next knowing the Cherries are there for the taking.

Bournemouth meet Swansea having not tasted defeat in their last five matches against the Swans (W3, D2), with both sides settling for a goalless draw in the reverse fixture in December at the Liberty Stadium. Bournemouth have also recorded twice as many victories (10) than the Swans (5) in their last 20 meetings.
Bournemouth, with negativity surrounding the team after a few poor outings recently, need to go all out from the start on Tuesday, while Swansea will patiently look to exploit every error the Cherries make.
