Sporting Braga’s European journey continues with a Europa League home game against Italian side AS Roma this Thursday.
Braga is currently 3rd in the Primeira Liga, two points ahead of Jorge Jesus' Benfica. Manager Carlos Carvalhal has impressed since taking his appointment, and despite losing the talented Francisco Trincao last summer to Barcelona the club continues to perform well. Braga ended a run of two straight draws by beating Santa Clara 1-0 away from home, for their seventh straight unbeaten outing. A first-half goal from Colombian left-back Cristian Borja ensured victory for Carlos Carvalhal's Braga. The win came with their second clean sheet in six matches and with the defense fixed, they should do well against the visitors.
In the last 15 matches, they have lost just three and scored in 12. They’ve scored 10 goals in their last five matches and conceded four. After finishing second in their group in the Europa League, Braga will hope to extend their current three-match unbeaten run in the competition. They scored nine goals in the three matches, but have just one clean sheet in the last five matches in Europe. Braga has conceded 10 goals in their last five Europa League matches but scored two or more in five of the last six.
Carlos Carvalhal will be without Braga's defensive anchorman David Carmo - injured against Porto recently - as he joins Rui Fonte, Francisco Moura, and Iuri Medeiros on the treatment table, with the latter trio all suffering from knee injuries. With five games in 15 days, Carvalhal will most likely change the team again, which could include Andre Horta and former Atletico Madrid man Nicolas Gaitan potentially involved in 3-4-2-1 formation.

Paulo Fonseca revealed he made a bet with Jordan Veretout on his goals this season and hailed Roma's ‘great performance’ to beat Udinese 3-0. Veretout scored with a header and a penalty before Pedro Rodriguez fired in the third in stoppages. “I am very satisfied. We started the game strong, scored two goals – three, one disallowed – and created more chances. In the second half, we controlled the tempo, kept a clean sheet and I think put in a great performance,” the coach told the media. “It was important to press Rodrigo De Paul, as he is a very strong player who is a huge influence on Udinese, and we managed to neutralize him well, not allowing him the space to make the difference.”
Edin Dzeko was again benched following the row with Fonseca, but the coach was asked if Borja Mayoral’s characteristics simply suit Roma better right now? “They are two different players, it depends on the game and how the opponents defend. Borja Mayoral can indeed run into space and work hard for the team, but in the second half, I thought it important to introduce Dzeko because we were under pressure. I must say that Dzeko also tried to do the same work, so both of the strikers played well. I have a bet with Veretout, as at the start of the season I said he needed to score at least 10 goals. He’s on nine now, so we joked about that when he came off. We prepared Veretout’s way to come into the final third with Bryan and Gonzalo Villar, as it was important to find Jordan in space with that type of movement from deep.” Roma has been dominant against the clubs below them in the standings this season but failed to beat any of the sides above them. “If we look at the performance against Juventus, we did well and were only missing the result. We got the three points today and they were very important.”
Roma will probably change the squad as much as possible with their mission to achieve a place in the Champions League for the next season. Chris Smalling and long-term injury absentee Nicolo Zaniolo are unavailable through injury, but the Italian side has few other concerns. Marash Kumbulla will battle with Roger Ibanez for a place in defense alongside Gianluca Mancini and Bryan Cristante, while Bruno Peres could be introduced at wing-back to give a rare rest to Rick Karsdorp. Veterans Pedro and Edin Dzeko may be brought in to replace Lorenzo Pellegrini and Europa League regular Borja Mayoral in the Giallorossi attack.
Roma: Lopez; Mancini, Cristante, Ibanez; Peres, Villar, Veretout, Spinazzola; Pedro, Mkhitaryan; Dzeko

Braga has great offensive players but they are very vulnerable at the back, especially in the derbies in Portugal or playing with better opponents in Europe. With the quality that Roma possesses, but also their defensive issues it could be the most reasonable to give a chance to both teams to score betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
