BRENTFORD FACE TOP DOGS ARSENAL ON RETURN TO TOP-FLIGHT AFTER 74 YEARS
Brentford’s first season in the top-flight gets underway on Friday, and the main aim for Thomas Frank’s side will be to stay in the Premier League. They are already being written off by many, with experts claiming that there isn’t enough quality or experience within their squad. Pre-season hasn’t been too bad for the Bees, and their first-ever Premier League fixture has the makings of a memorable night, in part because Frank’s side will not fear an Arsenal team who remain in transition under Arteta. The Gunners finished last season in eighth place and missed out on European football. They lacked potency in front of goal, although the ever-improving Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka will help the strikers get the chances they need to score this season. There has certainly been an extra emphasis on youth over the summer window, as the Gunners have brought in Ben White for £50 million from Brighton & Hove Albion to replace the departing David Luiz. However, achieving a European place is a must for Arsenal this season.
FEARLESS BEES WILL TEST ARTETA’S MEN
It has been a long journey for Brentford with nine heartbreaking play-off failures, but they’ve managed to climb through the tiers whilst consistently making a profit, a testament to their eye for talent. The Bees are hoping continuity will prove the key to success, with £13.5million Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer and Midtjylland’s Frank Onyeka at £9m the only major additions.
The combination of a smooth attack and a strong defence was key to the ‘Bees’ success last campaign, as they allowed opposing sides just 8.6 shots on average during the regular season. They also shut out three PL sides over six cup fixtures against such opposition the last term and scored two or more goals in three of those, hinting that they might be competitive this season.
GUNNERS CAN PASS TRICKY OPENING TEST
Meanwhile, after consecutive eighth-placed finishes, Arsenal will be expected to do much better this season, especially without the distraction of European football for the first time in 26 years. With a number of new additions to the squad, the ‘Gunners’ will hope to build on a decent second half to last season that only saw Man City accrue more points than them from Boxing Day onwards (W14, D5, L5).
Indeed, only Man United can boast a longer current PL unbeaten away run than Arsenal (W5, D2) and Mikel Arteta’s men should be confident of extending that into the new season, given that they didn’t concede a single goal in any of their away league games against promoted opposition last term. The Gunners will be looking to get up and running the newly promoted London neighbours with games against Chelsea and Man City to come straight after.

Brentford will play with no fear, something that Thomas Frank has instilled in the side, and Ivan Toney will be relishing the challenge of the Premier League after scoring 31 goals in the Championship season. Arsenal know the occasion that awaits them after travelling to another newly-promoted team from London, Fulham, on the first day of last season and cruising to a 3-0 win. Things may be tougher this time around though and we expect an end-to-end affair to kick off the new campaign.
BettingKick’s Brentford vs Arsenal prediction is both teams to score on Friday evening.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
