Brentford host Barnsley at the Brentford Community Stadium (London) in the 29th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 2 pm (UK) on Sunday, February 14. Read our reasons for Brentford vs Barnsley prediction and betting tips.
After rolling over Middlesbrough 4-1 at Riverside Stadium and Reading at the Madejski (3-1), Brentford will be looking to extend their winning run in the Championship to five games when they take on Barnsley on Matchday 29. The Bees have been impressive in front of goal of late, with the team netting 14 goals in total in the previous three league fixtures, and heading into this match as the league’s leaders. Meanwhile, the Tykes are on a six-game winless streak (D2, L4) in all competitions, during which they’ve scored just two goals. The visitors do not seem to be at their sharpest at the moment, have fallen to 12th in the table and have been knocked out from the FA Cup Round 5 against Chelsea in midweek, to boot.
Brentford are the Championship’s most in-form side, picking up more points across their previous eleven matches than any other team (W9, D2), and scoring 3+ goals in seven of their nine wins in that run. They are currently the division’s top-scorers (56), averaging the league’s highest 2 goals per match, which is unquestionably helping them stay unbeaten in the league since October. After the Bees recorded their eighth away win in 11 (D3) the pole position is theirs to lose.
Norwich’s two disappointing goalless draws on the trot and a 2-0 defeat at Swansea last weekend were enough for high-flying Brentford to go top after a brace from young midfielder Josh Dasilva and the 23rd goal from star striker Ivan Toney secured the win for Brentford over Veljko Paunovic's Reading in midweek. Thomas Frank's side are now two points clear, stretching their extraordinary unbeaten league run to 21 matches.
Meanwhile, the Tykes have been in fine form this season under Valerien Ismael but are coming into this match on the back of a little purple patch in the Championship – they lost three in a row and could only come away with a goalless draw at struggling Nottingham Forest on January 30. Barnsley have indeed improved vastly under the Frenchman, putting some distance between themselves and the relegation zone, and will be satisfied with a point here for sure.
Against Brentford, Barnsley have a task ahead to overturn a five-game winless league run and a 1-0 loss in the reverse fixture. Whilst the Tykes’ promotion hopes have faded, they could still hamper the hosts as they’ve lost just twice in their last seven head-to-head matches (W3, D2, L2). That said, Barnsley have netted just two league goals in 2021, and are goalless in four of their last five league games.

Brentford meet Barnsley looking for their first league double over Barnsley since the 2003/04 season. In the last 15 encounters between the two sides, the record is even, with both sides winning 5 games each.
With top players like Josh Dasilva and Ivan Toney, Brentford will always find a bit of brilliance, with these two ready to step up and deliver. However, Thomas Frank will know that while they keep being unbeaten, it's always going to be harder to win the next one.
Barnsley, on the other hand, have slowed down after a good start. They performed well against Chelsea in the FA Cup, but Valerien Ismael's side will be keen to get back to winning ways in the league.
The Bees should be able to register a win here so the Bettingkick’s Brentford vs Barnsley prediction is: Brentford win
