The ultimate prize, the last available spot for the next season's Premier League, is not yet claimed, and is there for the taking on Tuesday at Wembley at 7.45pm (UK), when Brentford play against Fulham in this year's English Championship Play-off Final. An estimated £170 million is what the prize in question is worth, and one of the two west London teams will get the chance to play in the elite competition that is the Premier League.
Brentford's win against Swansea on Tuesday was important for numerous reasons. It was the club's final ever game at Griffin Park and what better way to say goodbyes to their home since 1904 then to win the promotion to the top division for the first time ever. The victory was also significant because it ended their bad run of three defeats in a row.
Fulham's route to the final has been less dramatic, but their place at Wembley is well deserved. At no point did they look uncomfortable and out of sorts against Cardiff, and the fact that they achieved it without their and league's top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic, is even more impressive. The Bluebirds did show some fire in their belly in the second leg of this tie, having taken the lead twice, but the Cottagers managed to see the game through and were more relieved than elated at the very end.
BRENTFORD VS FULHAM MATCH ANALYSIS
Before the play-off, the second place literally slipped out of Brentford's hands as they choked twice in two final games of the regular season. The defeat against Swansea in the first leg followed and Thomas Frank did well to pick his men up and to show what they are made of in the second leg. A successful appeal over Henry's red card was also a huge boost before this game and it showed in their performance which was arguably, one of their best of the season. The late goal after a defensive error didn't derail them and the Bees were able to see it through.
Brentford boast of impressive head-to-head record against Fulham, being unbeaten in last five competitive games (W3,D2) and with no fresh injury woes, the manager will probably field the same starting eleven from the second leg against Swansea in the final. They have scored more than Fulham this season (80-64), conceded less (32-48), and although Fulham have the luxury of experiencing playing in the final before, Brentford got plenty of reasons to be confident heading into this match.
Fulham's boss Scott Parker will have squad dilemmas as he waits on the news over the fitness of his two most dangerous men up front - Aleksandar Mitrovic and Neeskens Kebano. Mitrovic missed both legs of the semi-final with a hamstring injury and is still a doubt, while Kebano was substituted in the last game also with a hamstring problem.
After an impressive first-leg display in the Welsh capital, the second leg was at times a nervy affair for Parker's side, but with cool heads on their shoulders, they managed to keep the Bluebirds at bay until the final whistle. This defeat was their first in nine games (W6,D2), but it's the record they have against their Tuesday's opponent which would be more unsettling for the Cottagers. However, if they can equal or excel their performance in the first leg against Cardiff, they may come out of this clash victorious.

The Bees entered the play-off as favourites because of their league form and place in the table, but they began this tournament in a bad way, and Thomas Frand did a terrific job to lift them up from the disappointment of missing out on automatic promotion. They have a fully fit squad and a better head-to-head record against their neighbours, but their lack of experience of playing on the biggest stage may hamper their performance. The same exprerience could prove precious to Fulham, who most recently won the play-off final against Aston Villa in 2018. However, the fact that the game will be played in an empty stadium, could take away a little not only from the occasion, but from the Fulham's psychological advantage too.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
