BRENTFORD VS LEICESTER MATCH ANALYSIS
The FA Cup fourth round draw throws up a tough assignment for Championship side Brentford, who host Premier League high-flyers Leicester at home. The bees come into this game on the back of a 1-0 win over Luton on Wednesday in the Championship and they beat Middlesbrough (2-1) prior to that game to set up a 1/16-final tie against the Foxes. Leicester, on the other hand, beat Frank Lampard's sinking Chelsea 2-0 on Wednesday in the Premier League and reached this round of the domestic cup by beating comfortably another second-tier outfit Stoke (0-4) in Round 3 on January 9.
Brentford have been impressive in the Championship so far, and sit third in the standings. They are among the favorites for automatic promotion to the Premier League, having narrowly missed out last season. Thomas Frank’s side are right in the hunt for automatic promotion this time around, taking a 16-match (W9, D7) unbeaten run in the league into Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Leicester and losing only at Tottenham (2-0) in the League Cup in that period. That has been their only defeat in the last 19 matches stretching back to October. The Championship high-flyers have already defeated Premier League opposition in Fulham, West Brom, Southampton, and Newcastle this season, though the absence of Ivan Toney, in particular, is a big blow ahead of this tie.
Leicester, on the other hand, are third in the Premier League and have earned plaudits for their performances. Veteran striker Jamie Vardy has been key to their success, while Wesley Fofana and James Justin have been shrewd acquisitions. Interestingly, the Foxes met Brentford at the same stage of the last season’s FA Cup, with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring the game’s only goal inside the first few minutes of the tie at a packed Griffin Park. The visiting Foxes will hope for the same outcome though, as Brendan Rodgers’ side is eyeing to keep up the momentum that saw them rise to the top of the Premier League table on Tuesday night, albeit for only 24 hours. Leicester outclassed big-spending Chelsea with a comfortable 2-0 victory at the King Power Stadium, their fourth straight win in all competitions, while they remain unbeaten in seven (W5, D2).

Brentford are winless in their last seven meetings with Leicester in all competitions (D1 L6), most recently a 0-1 home loss at this stage of the FA Cup last season, while Leicester have progressed from all four of their FA Cup ties against Brentford, doing so in January 1936, February 1947, February 1949 and January 2020.
This match has all the ingredients of a classic FA Cup contest between a top Premier League side and a top lower league side. Many expect Brentford to be in the Premier League in the not-to-distant future and they will hope to add another top-flight scalp to their name here. Whether they can upset Leicester remains to be seen but it should be a quality match.
