BRENTFORD VS MIDDLESBROUGH MATCH ANALYSIS
Brentford’s draw with Swansea last time out means they go into this weekend outside of the top six. They are in 10th place with 15 points ahead of their match with Boro. The Bees have lost one and won two of their last five games – a feat considered steady by club fans but certainly still off the pace from last season’s standard when they reached the play-off finals. As for Middlesbrough, their goalless draw away at Blackburn on Tuesday evening means they have conceded just five goals in 10 league matches and, as a result, are sitting at the right end of the table in 6th place with 17 points. They are still yet to lose since their opening fixture, meaning they have not tasted defeat in the Championship for nine weeks (W4-D5-L1).
After losing the play-off final Brentford could be forgiven for suffering a bit of a hangover. Last season they showed they knew how to control games and were brilliant when it came to creating chances and being in control, but they need a few good results on the trot in the league to get their campaign really going. They lost key players in the summer, but they have replaced them well and are three points better off at this stage than they were last term (W4, D3, L3).
Brentford come into this weekend’s fixture having managed to salvage a 1-1 draw with fellow promotion hopefuls Swansea. Ivan Toney's 10th goal of the campaign put Brentford in front on Tuesday night, but the Swans were much the better side and will feel they deserved the win. Brentford, who are unbeaten in last three matches, will know they will need an improved performance on Saturday if they are to trouble Middlesbrough, but with the league's top scorer in their ranks, they will feel confident.
Boro have not suffered a defeat in the last nine rounds and manager Neil Warnock will be pleased that his side are now starting to play the way he wishes them to - hard to break down and ruthless in front of goal. They have been impressive defensively of late, with the team eyeing their fourth consecutive clean sheet in the Championship. However, preventing Brenftord attackers from scoring in the suburbs of London is easier said than done.
In midweek, they were made to settle for a draw at Blackburn. In the aftermath of the match Warnock said his side lacked the quality they needed to make all of their possession and chances tell as their 20 shots on goal did not make the difference. Boro face a tough test next, but they have already played against some of the best teams in the league at the early stage of this campaign, so they are well-weathered.

Playoff games included, this match will be the 13th consecutive Championship encounter between the two.
Brentford have won their last three matches against Middlesbrough, although before their first victory in this streak, they had failed to beat their league rivals since 1964 (W3-D2-L7).
Middlesbrough have lost just two of their ten away league games since Neil Warnock’s appointment (W5, D3, L2) with four of those victories arriving as outsiders.
With 18 goals only Blackburn have scored more goals than the Bees (17). Even though Brentford are lethal in front of the goal, but their defense can be leaky too. It is just a question of whether Boro can take the chances when they are presented to them.
Bettingkick’s prediction for Brentford vs Middlesbrough match is: Under 2.5 goals
