Brentford host Newcastle at the Brentford Community Stadium (London) in the Carabao Cup quarter-final and the match kicks off at 5.30 pm (UK) on Tuesday, December 22.
BRENTFORD VS NEWCASTLE MATCH ANALYSIS
On their way to the quarter-finals of the Carabao, Cup Brentford have already knocked out three Premier League clubs – Southampton (0-2), West Brom (2-2), and Fulham (3-0) and now face Newcastle in their first quarter-finals ever. They progressed to the League Cup quarter-finals after a reprisal of the 2019/20 Championship Play-off Finals against Fulham, where they avenged that defeat that caused them hangover at the start of the new Championship campaign.
In that match, played on October 1, Algerian international Said Benrahma made his first start of the season after being linked with a move away during the summer, and his second-half double sealed the Championship side's first Carabao Cup quarter-final appearance in their 153rd match in the competition.
As for Newcastle, the Magpies have started their 2020/21 campaign solidly, when some expected them to struggle and fight for survival. Manager Steve Bruce has had limited funds, but his team has been performing well both in the league and the Carabao Cup. They are a favorite here for sure, but in knock-out games, you can never tell.
As for their most recent Carabao Cup match on September 30, Newcastle narrowly avoided becoming League Two Newport’s latest scalp as they scored a late equaliser before winning on penalties to reach the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city.
