Brentford host Nottingham at the Brentford Community Stadium (London) in the 38th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 12.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, March 20. Read our reasons for Brentford vs Nottingham prediction and betting tips.
Brentford are slipping off the automatic promotion pace at the wrong time, picking up four points from the last nine available after giving up a 2-0 HT lead at Derby to draw 2-2 in midweek. The result means the Bees remain fourth in the Championship and sit three points above Barnsley. They still have genuine hopes of securing an automatic playoff berth with second place Watford just five points ahead. As for Nottingham, they offered little resistance to the league leaders Norwich on Wednesday night and lost 2-0 at home with just a single attempt on target. Chris Hughton's men are without a win in their last five matches (L3, D2) and have slid down to 18th place, nine points above the bottom three.
Brentford begin the final ten games of the 2020/21 campaign with a home clash against Nottingham Forest. The game is also the last in a relentless schedule since November before a two-week break for international fixtures. Brentford will come into the match on a run of three wins, and only one defeat, from their last five games. That could, however, have been even better for The Bees as they threw away a two-goal lead at the Pride Park last time out, as first-half efforts from Ivan Toney and Sergi Canon were canceled out by the home team.
While the London outfit will move to within two points of Watford if they win their game in hand, they are struggling to build any momentum after two months of inconsistent displays. Ivan Toney took his tally for the season to 27 strikes but Brentford now feel like outsiders for the top two, pushing Frank to demand extra from a group of players who still have time to get back on track. There will be many more twists and turns with rivals facing off against each other, but, right now, more than ever, it really is all about taking each game as it comes.
Meanwhile, Forest have been plagued by a lack of goals throughout the season and have one the poorest attacks in the Championship. That problem seems to have gotten worse in recent weeks with just one goal scored in their last four matches. Forest found themselves 2-0 down after just 13 minutes at the City Ground against the Canaries and although Hughton’s team improved after the break that was in large down to Norwich taking their foot away from the pedal. Now, it’s back to the drawing board for Forest.
Very few supporters would have expected to get anything from the game but the lack of fight was telling. Hughton’s change in strategy did little to help the team and an alarming lack of commitment and fight hampered Forest. It was almost as if Forest expected to lose the game so simply stepped aside as Norwich ran riot. The Reds are once again look over their shoulder at the teams below them in the table. It’s been a worrying few weeks for Forest and Hughton simply has to get a reaction out of his players at Brentford on Saturday.

Brentford meet Nottingham looking for their first league double over Forest since the 2016/17 season after celebrating a 3-1 victory in the reverse fixture in December, while Forest, 1-0 winners at Griffin Park in the Championship last season, have never won back-to-back away league games against Brentford.
Brentford's recent inconsistency means that the outcome of this contest is not a foregone conclusion. However, fatigue may have begun to set in Nottingham’s side, which should allow the Bees to claim the whole three points.
