BRENTFORD VS READING MATCH ANALYSIS
After drawing against fellows promotion candidates Watford (1-1) at the Vicarage Road, Brentford are unbeaten in twelve games (W5, D7) and are sitting in 6th place, 5 points from the automatic promotion berth and second-placed Bournemouth. As for Reading, they are in 5th place with one point more than the Bees after their defeat against leaders Norwich at the Madejski Stadium. A win on Saturday can put some breathing space between them and their hosts, and other play-off hopefuls, too.
Brentford could be forgiven for suffering a bit of a hangover after losing the play-off final last season. They showed they knew how to control games and were brilliant when it came to creating chances and being in control, but they needed consistency in the league to get this campaign really going. They lost key players in the summer, but they have replaced them well and as a matter of fact, are better off with points at this stage than they were last term.
As for their midweek clash with the Hornets, a second-half penalty from veteran striker Troy Deeney for the Hornets was canceled out by a penalty from the league’s top-scorer Ivan Toney (16) for Brentford, who had centre-back Ethan Pinnock sent off. The draw extended the Bees' unbeaten run to 12 games, the longest in the Championship this season.
The Royals, on the other hand, fell to 6th place after losing four matches on the trot, but have remained in the play-off contention after they managed to consolidate a bit. After conceding only twice in the first seven matches, they have shipped 22 in their last twelve. Could it be that the Royals have finally found the elusive X-factor from the previous seasons only to lose it irreparably so soon? Their identity is still forging, but with the latest defeat against Norwich, it looks like they still aren’t ready to challenge the best sides in the league.
On Wednesday, Norwich returned to the top of the Championship table with a deserved win at Reading. Goals from Argentine midfielder Emiliano Buendia and Finland international Teemu Pukki secured the win for the Canaries at the Madejski Stadium, while talented young attacker Michael Olise scored the consolation goal for Reading. It was a well-deserved win and the Canaries proved too much for the hosts, as they were in control for most of the match.

Brentford have won three of the last six league meetings with Reading (D2 L1), completing the league double of the Royals without conceding last season, while Reading’s only win in their last seven visits to Brentford came all the way back in August 2015 (3-1), meaning they’ve failed to win any of the last four (D2 L2).
Brentford have been inconsistent this season. The Bees have a squad capable of securing the playoff spots, and, although unbeaten in seven Championship home games, they have still drawn five of those (W2, D5).
The Royals lost two of their last three league games and with a key trio of Lucas Joao, Yakou Meite, and Omar Richards all set to miss the rest of the year, all eyes will be on teenage sensation Michael Olise whose stocks continue to rise.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
