Brentford host Rotherham at the Brentford Community Stadium (London) in the rescheduled 35th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 7 pm (UK) on Tuesday, April 27. Read our reasons for Brentford vs Rotherham prediction and betting tips.
Brentford were forced to play over 40 minutes with 10 men at the weekend, but a second-half goal from substitute Bryan Mbeumo helped the Bees earn a 1-0 win against Bournemouth. Thomas Frank's side are unbeaten in nine league games ahead of Rotherham and the Bees must win two out of their final three games to guarantee a home advantage in the second leg of the promotion play-off semi-finals. Meanwhile, Carlton Morris' controversial second-minute opener proved to be the difference at the weekend as Rotherham slipped to a 1-0 defeat against playoff contenders Barnsley. The visitors have lost four games on the bounce and have failed to score in six of their last eight. The Millers may remain inside the relegation zone, but this is the first of their two remaining games in hand on relegation rivals and survival is still in their own hands.
Brentford’s away win at Bournemouth can also paint a different picture though – that sometimes form and home comforts go out of the window with Play-off football no exception. Going into Saturday’s game, the Bees were on an average run of form with six draws from seven games in comparison to Bournemouth who were flying, winning seven on the bounce. However, a resilient second-half showing and a lacklustre Cherries display led to a big win for Thomas Frank’s men in what could be a potential Play-Offs preview.
Watford’s 1-0 win against Millwall on Saturday was enough to secure a top-two finish and means Brentford must again try and clinch promotion through the play-offs. Whatever happens though, to claim a second successive top-six finish with three games to go is an achievement in itself. But after nine failed Play-Offs attempts and the heartbreak of last season when they lost to Fulham in the Finals, the hard work starts now with Brentford hoping it really is a case of lucky number ten…
As for Rotherham, they are once again battling for their Championship lives as they visit the Brentford Community Stadium for a rearranged game on Tuesday night. Due to a double Covid outbreak, the Millers have been playing catch-up and their hopes of avoiding relegation have been kept alive because of their resulting games in hand. However, they have not made the most of them and as things stand, they are in 22nd place, four points behind Derby, but with two games in hand.
After Tuesday, their final three matches are at home to Blackburn on Saturday, away to Luton and then away to Cardiff on the final day of the season. Any realistic Millers fan would have taken fourth from the bottom before the season started, given the quality and additional financial clout of the majority of teams in the Championship. Rotherham have been relegated twice and promoted twice in the last four seasons under Paul Warne.

Brentford meet Rotherham looking to complete a Championship double over the Millers after winning 2-0 in Yorkshire earlier this season. The Bees won both games between the teams when they were last in the same division, in the Championship in 2018/19, scoring nine goals in the process. Rotherham have won two of the last four between the sides on their own turf, both games coming in a six-month period in 2016. The Bees have, however, won seven of the last nine contests between the sides.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
