Brentford host Stoke at the Brentford Community Stadium (Brentford) in the 33rd round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, February 27. Read our reasons for Brentford vs Stoke prediction and betting tips.
Brentford made it six wins in their last seven Championship home matches with a victory over Sheffield Wed on Wednesday night and have another game on their own turf next on the agenda. The Bees ended a three-match losing run with a 3-0 victory in midweek and remain second after the win against the Owls saw them nudge further ahead of the chasing pack on the goal difference. They're up next against a Stoke side struggling in 10th position after a barren run of form since December, winning only three times from 16 games in that period (D7, L6). Michael O'Neill saved the Potters from a humiliating relegation last season but his ambition of finishing inside the top-half of the standings this year is facing a litmus test right now.
Brentford returned to winning ways on Wednesday night but Norwich City remain seven points clear at the top of the Championship as the season reaches its final third. Meanwhile, the race for play-off places is really starting to hot up. Thomas Frank would have been mightily relieved to witness his side enjoy a 3-0 win, a rare occasion where Brentford have had a comfortable 90 minutes since the turn of the year. However, the result must mark the start of a sustained run of improvement for the Bees.
The win against Sheffield kept The Bees second in the Championship table and maintained the status quo among the sides leading the pack. Norwich are seven points ahead and Watford are third, on goal difference. Swansea City are fourth, a point behind The Bees after all teams won in the past two days. The injury-hit Bees have been without top scorer Ivan Toney, Pontus Jansson, Rico Henry and Christian Norgaard and have struggled in recent weeks without the spine of their talented side. But they made light work of a Wednesday side still stuck in the bottom three.
As far as Stoke are concerned, they will be hoping for a repeat performance after recording a 3-2 win in the reverse fixture back in October. Although that result acted as the catalyst for Brentford's prolonged unbeaten run, it did not have the same effect on Stoke who have failed to build on a promising start to the season. The setback in the most recent games have led to Stoke dropping into 10th position and coming under pressure from teams directly below them.
In midweek, Michael O’Neill bemoaned his players’ lack of common sense as Stoke slipped to a frustrating 2-0 defeat at Barnsley. Barnsley edged a tight first half with a crackerjack from Callum Styles but Stoke, following an injury to Steven Fletcher just after half-time, were never able to climb through the gears in the second half and put the hosts under pressure. Fletcher will have a groin injury assessed before Brentford this weekend – and they will need to do better without him than they managed at Oakwell.

Brentford meet Stoke unbeaten in their last four home league matches against the Potters (W2 D2), but Stoke are looking to complete a league double over Brentford for the first time since the 1999/00 season. Counting on the fact that there is still tiredness in the Brentford ranks, O'Neill will advise his players to make this a physical game. Nevertheless, we still expect the Bees to come through with three points as they try to keep pace with their promotion rivals.
