1 - 1
Brighton host West Ham at The Amex Stadium (Brighton) in the 36th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Saturday, May 15. Read our reasons for Brighton vs West Ham prediction and betting tips.
Now guaranteed a fifth consecutive top-flight season, Brighton will be upbeat despite winning just one of their last six matches (D2, L3). Losing to Wolves last time out, having led, Brighton have now dropped a joint-league high 23 points from winning positions this season. Games remain incredibly close, however, with just three of their last 34 competitive outings seeing a winning margin of more than a goal. Meanwhile, a poor run of form (W1, L3) means a coveted Champions League place is almost out of reach for West Ham, although Europa League qualification remains a strong possibility. Each of those three recent losses were by one-goal margins, but entertainment levels have still been good this season, with a league-high 62.86% of their games witnessing over 2.5 goals.
Brighton beat Leeds in their last home match and started brightly against Wolves at Molineux, leading through a 13th-minute Dunk header. However, the centre-half went from hero to zero in the second period when dismissed for pulling back Fabio Silva, who was through on goal. Wanderers took full advantage as they hit back to win 2-1 before Maupay received a second yellow card for dissent following the final whistle.
The Seagulls can at least rest assured they are safe from relegation after Fulham’s loss to Burnley on Monday, so they should be able to play with freedom. Albion will be without key defender Lewis Dunk through suspension while top striker Neal Maupay is also banned after both saw red last weekend. Albion have only won one of their last six Premier League matches but have at least kept clean sheets in half of those matches but will have hard time keeping Leeds at bay here.
As for David Moyes’ side, West Ham have slumped at the worst possible moment, as it looks like a top-four finish is now beyond them. They have lost three of their last four following a flat 1-0 defeat by Everton in London, but a Europa League spot is still up for grabs. Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s well-taken goal in the first half proved decisive, with Said Benrahma missing United’s best chance to draw level.
The Hammers had previously prevailed 2-1 at Burnley, though, and won 3-2 at Wolves last month before going down by the same scoreline at Newcastle, so they have been scoring goals on the road. Starting as favourites may also suit West Ham as they own a win-rate of 66.67% (W4, D1, L1) on the road against lower opposition. The Hammers can’t afford any more slip-ups if they are to qualify for Europe, but they are visiting Brighton at just the right time as the host are without their key defender and striker.

Brighton meet West Ham having never previously failed to score in their seven Premier League meetings with the Hammers. The last four between the sides have ended level, while the Seagulls won each of the first three. West Ham have faced Brighton more often (7) without ever winning than they have any other opponent in the Premier League (D4 L3).
The last four meetings between the two sides have ended in draws and it wouldn't be a surprise if we saw another here given the form of both. However, given that the visitors need the three points here and Brighton have secured safety, we expect this game to be a high-scoring affair.
BettingKick’s Brighton vs West Ham prediction is: Over 2.5 goals
