Bristol City host Coventry City in their season opener at Ashton Gate Stadium on Saturday, 12 september and the game kicks off at 3pm (UK).
Bristol City had somewhat of a rollercoaster of a season. They showed promise early on in the campaign as they were in the play-off mix until January. But the lack of consistency that was plaguing them in the last five seasons, where their highest position in the table was 8th in 2018/2019, coupled with the lack of quality and their style which was uninspiring the least, saw them finish desperately disappointingly without a proper fight, which was a signal for the end of Lee Johnson's time at the helm.
The Sky Blues, on the other hand, were absent from the Championship for eight years.Mark Robins, in his second stint at the club, did an excellent job of leading the team back to the second-tier, and he did so in style. The league's final standings were settled on a points-per-game basis, and nobody could say Coventry weren't the best team in League One.
BRISTOL CITY VS COVENTRY MATCH ANALYSIS
Bristol City were aiming for the top six at the start of the last campaign, and the manager paid the price of not delivering on that promise. His replacement, Dean Holden, who hasn't been in charge of a club since 2015 accepted the job with a clear goal to make the club competitive again. The fact that the new manager is someone from within the club, left the fans a bit let down as they were linked with big names such as Chris Hughton.
When it comes to the squad, they beat off the competition to sign Joe Williams from Wigan to strengthen their midfield and brought Joe Morrell and excellent Liam Walsh back from their successful loans in League One. Also, their striker, Famara Diedhou, will be their greatest asset again as he has been their top scorer two seasons in a row. The Robins' team looks good on paper and with a relatively easy start to the season they can get the momentum early on for the rest of the season.
For Coventry City, the solely objective will be to stay up and anything better than that will be a bonus. They should be solid defensively, but whether they have enough fire power in front of the goal is another question as they depend too much on their top -scorer, Matt Godden. They have lost Liam Walsh and Sam Mccallum, but brought in Gustavo Hamer, their most expensive signing in almost a decade, and Marcel Hilssner at left wing-back.
Other new names, like centre-back Leo Ostigard or Tyler Walker, brought to ease the pressure on Godden, will be decent additions to the team. It seems like they have shopped wisely, and even though they are still sharing the ground with Birmingham, it shouldn't hamper with their season's prospects.

Both teams need a good start to the campaign. They have four victories each in their last nine matches, and this one will be another close contest. Bristol are looking to shake off that 'streaky' tag they have, while Coventry will look to be more dangerous up front as they are already very solid at the back.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
