BURNLEY VS BOURNEMOUTH MATCH ANALYSIS
The Clarets come into this FA Cup tie on the back of a 1-1 draw against Brighton in the league. The R5 FA Cup match against Bournemouth in midweek is followed by games against Crystal Palace, Fulham and West Bromwich Albion, who are all also currently in the bottom half of the table and on all accounts, this may be a make or break period for Burnley and Sean Dyche. As for the Cherries, the club parted ways with manager Jason Tindall after six months in charge after their slide in the Championship continued. However, they still remain in the play-off contention in 6th after winning 3-2 at home against Birmingham. They need to string a few wins together and progress in the cup will be more than welcome.
Burnley beat Fulham in the previous round of the FA Cup to progress to the next round only for the second time in their last ten FA Cup ties against Premier League opposition, doing so against the eventually relegated Sunderland team in season 2016/17. Burnley, though, have an upper hand in the FA Cup head-to-heads against the Cottagers, knocking them out now in each of their last six ties.
The hosts have recently seen an upturn in form as the Clarets gained momentum ever since dealing Liverpool their first home league defeat since April 2017. Notwithstanding their most recent loss to Chelsea and leaders Man City, winning three in six matches in all competitions will be a huge lift ahead of their clash with Championship play-off hopefuls, Bournemouth, even though Sean Dyche will temper with the first XI with one eye on the Premier League.
Bournemouth, on the other hand, are the league’s second-best scoring team this season (43), with only Brentford (52) scoring more. It is a sign of doing something right despite their huge dip in form since mid-January which led to Tindall’s sack after a defeat against relegation candidates Sheffield Wed. Recent performances have been lacklustre, to say the least, with tactical direction seemingly lost, but also a host of individual errors, which Tindall couldn't control.
However, Philip Billing's late winner saw Bournemouth end a four-game losing run as caretaker manager Jonathan Woodgate led his side to victory over Birmingham City on Saturday. Now, they travel to Burnley for the Fa Cup after they knocked out League Two side Crawley, who caused a shock by beating Leeds previously, in the fourth round (2-1) on January 26.

These two sides have met four times in the FA Cup across three ties, with Burnley progressing from each (1960-61, 1965-66, 2004-05). This will be Bournemouth’s 18th away match against Burnley in all competitions, only winning one of the previous 17 (D6 L10). Burnley are looking to reach the FA Cup quarter-final for the first time since the 2002-03 campaign and the Cherries, on the other hand, have reached the FA Cup fifth round for the first time since 1988-89.
Burnley’s Jay Rodriguez has scored 10 goals in his last 12 starts in the FA Cup, netting a brace in the Clarets’ 3-0 win at Fulham in the last round, while Bournemouth’s Joshua King has been directly involved in five goals in only two FA Cup appearances this season (three goals and two assists), and has the most goals and assists of any player remaining in the competition this season.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
