Burnley host Brighton at the Turf Moor (Burnley) in the 23rd round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, February 6.
BURNLEY VS BRIGHTON MATCH ANALYSIS
Burnley have won three games on the trot in all competitions prior to their two defeats where they failed to score - albeit, against Chelsea (2-0) and Man City (2-0). As a result, the Clarets have slipped down the standings into 17th, but are still eight huge points away from the bottom-three. As for Brighton, the visitors are coming into this match on the back of a four-game unbeaten run in the Premier League (W3, D1). After their 1-0 win against Tottenham, the Seagulls took another big scalp at Anfield with the same 1-0 narrow, but nevertheless, impressive win. Their recent performances see them in 15th place in the table and suggest they are well out of a slump and relegation zone.
Burnley’s recent upturn in form has been nothing short of brilliant. The Clarets have been rejuvenated since dealing Liverpool their first home league defeat since April 2017. Sean Dyche’s side have also progressed to the Round 5 of the FA Cup, doing so against the Cottagers, and, notwithstanding their most recent loss to Chelsea and leaders Man City, those victories will be a huge boost ahead of their clash with reinvigorated Seagulls.
As for their Wednesday night defeat, City cruised to victory at Turf Moor thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling - a result which left Burnley lingering above the drop zone, although they still have a comfortable eight-point cushion over 18th-placed Fulham. The Clarets also progressed in the FA Cup with a resounding victory over the Cottagers, either side of impressive victories over Liverpool and Aston Villa in the PL. The signs are certainly encouraging, but plenty of teams around them are starting to return to winning ways as well.
The visiting Brighton are definitely one such team. A winless December may have had Brighton boss Potter looking over his shoulder, but four wins in their past five games in all competitions - including four clean sheets - suggests the Seagulls are well on their way to find the form they need to pull away from the bottom. Brighton boss Graham Potter said the Seagulls produced their best performance for two years as they beat Tottenham with Leandro Trossard’s game's only goal and repeated the feat at Anfield.
Liverpool barely had their chances on the night, and Brighton's rearguard demonstrated exactly why they have now kept four clean sheets on the bounce as they prevented the goal-shy Reds from scoring on their own turf for the third game in a row. A second-half winner claimed by Steven Alzate was all that separated the two sides as Brighton became the second PL team - after their Saturday’s hosts - to beat Liverpool on their own turf in 2020-21.

Burnley have a marginally better overall record with 5 wins to Seagulls’ 4 in their last 20 meetings, while 11 matches finished without a winner. Moreover, three of the seven top-flight meetings between Burnley and Brighton have ended goalless, including the reverse fixture this season at Brighton.
Burnley’s first-choice strikers Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood facing a race to be fit in time for this game so the eyes will be on Jay Rodriguez and Matej Vydra to add to the mere 13 goals tally - the lowest in the league. On the other hand, Brighton have just produced one of the performances of the season at Anfield and could briefly open up a 13-point gap between themselves and the bottom-three with a win here.
Bettingkick’s Burnley vs Brighton prediction is: Under 2.5 goals
