Burnley host
Chelsea at Turf Moor (Burnley) in the Premier League round 7 on Saturday,
October 31 and the match kicks off at 3pm (UK).
MATCH PREVIEW
Burnley, are in the 18th place after picking up their first point of the campaign against West Brom in a goalless draw in the 5th week, albeit with a game in hand. They had lost all of their matches before that round, and continued in the same manner against Tottenh am (0-1)on Monday. Burnley desperately need points against Chelsea to kick-start their season as the club is going through the motions on all levels.
As for Chelsea, after six weeks of Premier League they are 10th in the table with 9 points from two wins – an opening day win against Brighton (1-3) and a 4th round win against Crystal Palace (4-0) – and 3 draws - against West Brom (3-3) in the 3rd round and most recently against Southampton (3-3) and Man Utd (0-0). In between, their only defeat of the campaign came at the hands of defending champions Liverpool at home in the 2nd round (0-2).
MATCH ANALYSIS
The Clarets are traditional slow starters. They have failed to win in their opening five Premier League games twice before, in 2014-15 when they had three points and in 2018-19, when like this year they picked up one point. Burnley struggle at home against the big sides, despite their reputation for being difficult opponents. Their only win in their past 24 Premier League home fixtures against 'the big six' came last season against Spurs.
Sean Dyche has rightly been praised for his leadership with a modestly assembled Clarets squad - having provided a second top-10 finish in five Premier League seasons in 2019/2020, but an already thin squad is at its limits. Furthermore, they have been very unfortunate with injuries and they still have many important players missing.Dyche had done wonders with the Clarets' modest squad before, so let's not write them off already. However, Burnley will have to start picking them up soon as they are level on points with Sheffield United and Fulham in the relegation zone.
As for Chelsea, the way Lampard's side opened their campaign is slightly disappointing with all the summer signings raising the expectations before the season had even started. Chelsea shipped 54 goals last season, more than any other top ten team, but have invested heavily in more attacking options than defensive reinforcements, which could prove costly by the end of this campaign. Having in mind that it is at the back where they are most vulnerable, Lampard should be at least a little pleased that they kept the clean sheet against Man Utd.
After conceding three times in two of their previous three league games, after denying Sevilla in similar fashion in the Champions League, does provide Chelsea with the kind of platform they have been lacking so far this season. Even if the return of Thiago Silva to lead a three-man defense have provided solidity, it also seemed to cost Chelsea their edge in attack. Match against struggling Burnley is where they should probably avoid such problems if they do not want to slide further down the table.

These two team have been involved in 13 matches in the last ten years, with Chelsea winning 8 of those to Burnleys solitary win from August 2017.
Chelsea have averaged 2.38 goals to Burnleys 1.0 in those head-to-heads.
Burnley remain winless this Premier League (PL) campaign after 6 rounds.
The hosts are winless in four PL home games too (D2, L2), after conceding the opener within 20 minutes in the previous two of their last three games.
Edouard Mendy became the first Chelsea goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in both of his first two Premier League games for the club since Petr Cech in August 2004.
The prediction for this match is: Chelsea win

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
