Burnley host Liverpool at Turf Moor (Burnley) in the 37th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8.15 pm (UK) on Wednesday, May 19. Read our reasons for Burnley vs Liverpool prediction and betting tips.
In their penultimate Premier League game, Burnley play for nothing but pride, as they will finish in the bottom-half regardless of what happens in their final two games. The ‘Clarets’ have blown hot and cold of late (W2, L3) though goals are often assured, with seven of their last eight PL games each producing over 2.5 in total. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah cancelled out Hal Robson-Kanu’s opener and then goalkeeper Alisson Becker later glanced in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s stoppage-time corner to keep Liverpool’s Champions League dream alive. That result put Liverpool just one point behind fourth-placed Chelsea and three adrift of Leicester in third, with all three having similar goal differences.
Sean Dyche has led Burnley to a sixth successive season in the Premier League despite minimal financial investment in the past 18 months. The Clarets have also had numerous injuries to key players this season which has been a further obstacle that Dyche has had to navigate. Now, Burnley require two points from their remaining two games to avoid matching their lowest points tally since returning to the Premier League in 2016.
Last Monday, a 2-0 win at Fulham secured a sixth-straight season in the Premier League. But on Saturday, the Clarets went down 4-0 against Leeds at Turf Moor - their ninth home game without a win in the Premier League, a club record in the top flight, and the worst run since 1998/99 in Stan Ternent’s testing first season in charge in the third tier. Liverpool are next up in the final home game of the season, with 3,500 Burnley fans allowed back into the stadium for the first time since last March.
As for the Reds, it was the Liverpool goalkeeper who stole all the headlines with a brilliant header from a corner in the final minute of added time to give his side a 2-1 lead and keeping the Reds’ top-four hopes alive, sparking wild celebrations from the Liverpool players and the bench. It was a must-win game for Liverpool in its bid for a top-four finish, with the Reds also securing their biggest victory of the season so far on Sunday afternoon, once again not doing it the easy way.
And with Leicester and Chelsea, who sit third and fourth respectively, set to square off in a heated clash on Tuesday, the scene is set for a thrilling finale. Liverpool though, head into the final week of the 2020-21 Premier League season knowing six points from their matches with Burnley and Crystal Palace will most likely see them secure CL football for next term. Having said that, Burnley have given Liverpool some tough games recently but Liverpool should have full belief after the manner of their victory over West Brom.

Burnley meet Liverpool looking to complete their first league double over the Reds since the 1929/30 season after they ended the Reds’ 68-game unbeaten home run earlier this season. On the other hand, Liverpool have won five of their six Premier League away games against Burnley, winning their last three at Turf Moor since a 2-0 loss in August 2016.
This is exactly the type of fixture Liverpool have struggled with this season, but nothing less than a win will do for them. Burnley's home form is poor while Liverpool's record on the road has kept their top-four hopes alive in recent months.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
