Burnley host Newcastle at Turf Moor (Burnley) in the 31st round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 12 pm (UK) on Sunday, April 11. Read our reasons for Burnley vs Newcastle prediction and betting tips.
Burnley blew a 2-0 advantage when going down 3-2 at Southampton last weekend but remain seven points clear of the drop zone. One league win in seven (D4, L2) is a concern, while the Clarets are also without a win at home since January 27. They have now drawn five straight PL home games - four of those ended 1-1. On the other hand, Newcastle boosted their survival hopes by drawing 2-2 with Tottenham, although they remain one of four sides yet to hit the 30-point mark. That was the fourth stalemate in five outings for Steve Bruce’s side and has put them three points clear of third-from-bottom Fulham with a game in hand.
Burnley looked on course to boost their survival hopes with a win at Southampton after a Chris Wood penalty and Matej Vydra’s strike put them 2-0 ahead. However, Stuart Armstrong, Danny Ings and Nathan Redmond hit back for Saints and the Clarets had a couple of late penalty appeals turned down. Burnley had previously picked up a fine 2-1 win at Everton, though, following on from home draws with Leicester and Arsenal, so their overall form is solid.
Chris Wood and Matej Vydra's partnership up front continues to blossom while the return of Johann Berg Gudmundsson on the right brings benefits and balance to the midfield. They were both on the scoresheet last weekend, so Jay Rodriguez may have to settle for a place on the bench once more here. Sean Dyche has the backing of the new chairman Alan Pace to take the Clarets forward and a defeat at Southampton will not change his opinion. Especially when Dyche's side have the chance to make amends against relegation rivals Newcastle next week.
As for Newcastle, the Magpies showed plenty of spirit when snatching a late 2-2 draw against Tottenham at St James’ Park. Harry Kane’s double put Spurs ahead after Joelinton had opened the scoring but Joe Willock struck on 85 minutes to earn the Magpies a valuable point. Head coach Steve Bruce is convinced there is unity within the dressing room that can get them out of trouble, despite media reports of a rift in the camp. If the Magpies can maintain the momentum, they should have enough quality to avoid relegation.
Newcastle's tally of ten points in 2021 is one of the worst in the league, while away from home they have now failed to get on the scoresheet in seven of their last nine top-flight fixtures. Right now, it seems like United's only chance of survival is the failure of others not the defiance of themselves. Bruce may have pledged to keep battling, but Newcastle aren’t playing fighting football at the moment. However, having to play six top-ten teams in eight games remaining, Geordies face a huge battle to survive.

Burnley meet Newcastle having won 1-0 in their last home league game against the Magpies, last winning back-to-back home top-flight games against the Toon in August 1968. On the other hand, following their 3-1 win over Burnley earlier this season, Newcastle are looking for their second-ever Premier League double over the Clarets.
These teams are certainly used to drawing matches of late, with the Clarets having taken part in five straight Premier League stalemates at Turf Moor and the Magpies posting four from five overall. Burnley and Newcastle are also just above the relegation zone and both may settle for edging closer to safety by sharing the spoils.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
