Cagliari is one of the most in-form teams in Serie A with 13 points in the last five games, while Fiorentina is unbeaten in the previous four matches. Read our Cagliari vs Fiorentina prediction and betting tips.
Leonardo Semplici said Cagliari has ‘brought out a great mentality’ since he arrived and will continue in the same way against Fiorentina. Semplici has managed to help Cagliari climb out of the relegation zone and the Casteddu currently sits four points above Benevento at 18th. “Since my arrival, we have only played games of this type,” he said. “All of them were a championship Final. “The approach will not change. We have brought out a great mentality, so we will face Fiorentina as we did with the others.”
Semplici’s men are on a run of five games unbeaten and host Fiorentina only days after a 3-1 win over Benevento. The coach expects a difficult battle against a Viola in a similar position to his Rossoblu side. “They have lived a similar season to ours, they didn’t deserve this position for the squad they have,” he said. “I’m a Florentine, purple is my color, but I’m professional. I came here to Cagliari to offer respect and passion. At the moment, Cagliari is my favorite side.”
Cagliari (3-5-2): Cragno; Ceppitelli, Godin, Carboni; Nandez, Marin, Duncan, Nainggolan, Zappa; Joao Pedro, Pavoletti

Injured: Pereiro, Rog, Sottil
Fiorentina coach Beppe Iachini seems set to leave the Artemio Franchi for the second time this summer and wants to finish the season ‘in a great way’. Iachini was sacked in November and brought back in March when Cesare Prandelli resigned from the job in a chaotic campaign for the Tuscans. Fiorentina is unbeaten in four games, including wins over Hellas Verona and Lazio, but the coach seems set to leave after the campaign. Reports claim President Rocco Commisso is in talks with Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso ahead of 2021-22 and Iachini seemed to salute Viola early during his press conference. “I was called back in a moment of great difficulty,” Iachini said.
“I couldn’t say no for three reasons. First, because I’m attached to the Viola jersey and Florence, and I wanted to reciprocate the affection in such a complicated moment. Second, because the President has always shown great esteem towards me, both for the person and for the work he had seen on the pitch. Finally, for the relationship with the group and the whole team, with whom we have lived through the pandemic and COVID together. I felt like coming back to lend a hand and try to bring my experience. I did it very willingly and with my heart. Now, we are reaching our target in a difficult championship. I think about finishing the season in the best possible way and when the season is over, even if the relationships are excellent, Beppe will go down his path. Here, I’m not only a coach, but I also lose my health, and perhaps it’s better to think about other things. In football, you can never say never, but I like to remain with a great relationship with everyone and a great feeling. I want to finish in a great way.”
Fiorentina (3-5-2): Dragowski; Milenkovic, Pezzella, Martinez Quarta; Caceres, Amrabat, Pulgar, Bonaventura, Igor; Vlahovic, Kouame
Suspended: none
Injured: Borja Valero

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
