The game kicks off at 7.45pm (UK) on Monday 27July, when Cardiff host Fulham at Cardiff City Stadium.
The former Millwall manager, Neil Harris, took over at Fulham in November, when the club was going nowhere in the 14th place in the Championship, and revived their season. The fans wanted a bigger name and considered him as an underwhelming appointment, but he proved the doubters wrong and has now guided the club to 5th place and the play-offs, which will surely leave everybody connected to the club satisfied. The Bluebirds secured their play-off place on the final day with an aplomb, as they demolished and relegated Hull City (3:0).
Fulham manager, Scott Parker, is also readying his men for the play-off showdown, albeit with a little help from the club's psychologist. This season was tumultuous for Fulham with few bumps along the road, but the last season's relegation really left mental scars, which is probably why they called on the expert sports psychologist in the first place. They are now unbeaten in seven games, and striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is the division's top scorer.
CARDIFF VS FULHAM MATCH PREVIEW
Between 2010 and 2012 the Welsh club missed the promotion to the Premier League in three successive years. But this time, Cardiff will be confident heading into the play-off campaign after winning three consecutive games to see out the regular season. Cardiff's home form is excellent at the moment since they have scored over two goals in five of their last six home matches. Furthermore, when they score first they almost always win - they only lost once this year (W9,D2,L1)
However, their head-to-head games with Fulham are always tight, with under 2.5 goals in their last thre games in all competitions. Their last defeat was against Fulham at the beginning of July, which ended their little unbeaten streak (W3). Since then, they bounced back, upped their game and went on another three games unbeaten run.
Had Fulham claimed all three points against Wigan on the final day, they would have finished above their London rivals Brentford in third place. Nevertheless, they are in excellent shape, having been without a loss (W5,D2) in their last seven Championship games. Fulham have a good head-to-head record against Cardiff, having lost only once in their last 11 games (W5,D5,L1).
The Whites aren't too prolific, as nine of their last eleven league games saw under 2.5 goals. Additionally, only one of their eight away league victories came with more than a one-goal margin.Aleksandar Mitrovic scored in both games between Fulham and Cardiff this season

The pressure should be on Fulham as they are the favourites in this tie. Cardiff may be in a better form, but the league table doesn't lie. Also, Fulham have invested heavily in the team this year, and now they must carry the weight of expectations.
This first step on the road to Wembley will probably be as crucial as the second leg, which is played on Thursday. It would be too foolish to dismiss Cardiff before kick off, knowing how insanely unpredictable and dramatic Championship can be.
My Cardiff vs Fulham prediction: Under 2.5 goals
