CARDIFF VS SWANSEA MATCH ANALYSIS
Cardiff have amassed 26 points so far, which is enough for 9th place in the standings. The last season’s play-off participants have had a disappointing start to the new campaign, but with the most recent convincing four wins on the trot, where they scored ten and shipped only one goal, they will be looking to continue to climb up the standings. The other Welsh side Swansea have accumulated 30 points from their first 17 league fixtures which is enough for 4th place in the table. After a defeat at Middlesbrough (2-1), they won against Luton (2-0) and drew against Bournemouth at home (0-0).
Cardiff made a slow start to their Championship campaign. The Bluebirds' form has been up and down since the start of the campaign and they might still be suffering the effects of a hangover from last season's play-off defeat to Fulham. They have lost some of the momentum as the see-saw results continue and they hadn’t strung consecutive wins together this season until the last four rounds. They have now made it four wins out of four, and, more importantly, have conceded only once, while managing to net 10 goals.
In their most recent Championship match, Cardiff captain Sean Morrison had a remarkable evening of lows and highs as his side came from behind to win away against Stoke City. Morrison scored an own goal then conceded a penalty, which was saved by Alex Smithies. Substitute Robert Glatzel then equalised for Cardiff before Morrison redeemed himself with a winning header. This was the first time they had won from a losing position since 2019 and are now eyeing the playoff spots.
Swansea, on the other hand, have done brilliantly under Steve Cooper’s in his first managerial job despite limited resources and a small squad. They are where they want to be – in the play-offs contention. Swansea are only a single point off the top of the Championship, which makes the goalless draw at home against leaders Bournemouth a little less disappointing. The Welsh team have lost only three matches since a defeat in the last season's play-offs, which is impressive in its own right. They still continue to look like a team capable of mounting another promotion push.
As for their draw against the Cherries, both teams settled for a point in an entertaining goalless draw at the Liberty Stadium. Swansea's on-loan Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman held on to claim a ninth clean sheet in 17 league games this season as the hosts made it six games unbeaten at the Liberty Stadium - their longest home run under Steve Cooper.

In the eleven games these two sides have played so far, Swansea have an upper hand with 5 wins to Cardiff’s 3. Last season, Swansea won at home (1-0) and the reverse fixture was a goalless draw.
The last time they met before, was in season 2013/14.
Cardiff are aiming to extend a run of four consecutive wins which had alleviated the pressure on manager Neil Harris.
Nine clean sheets in 17 league games this season as the hosts and six games unbeaten at the Liberty Stadium is the Bluebirds longest home run under Steve Cooper.
