CHELSEA VS BURNLEY MATCH ANALYSIS
On the back of a 2-0 defeat at Leicester Frank Lampard got the sack and was replaced by Thomas Tuchel, an ex-PSG manager. He hasn’t exactly started off with a bang as his Blues shared the points with Wolves in a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge. They are five points behind the top-four, but the Blues are very much still in the mix in spite of their below-par results and performances. As for Burnley, the visitors come into this match on the back of three wins - a historical 1-0 win against the defending champions Liverpool at Anfield, a 0-3 win against Fulham in the Round 4 of the FA Cup, and a dramatic 3-2 victory against Aston Villa. They are now in 15th place and are huge nine points away from the bottom three after their 6th win of the campaign.
Chelsea’s return of just two victories in eight league games (W2, D1, L5) has severely dented their title hopes. After making the journey back from Everton, Wolves, Arsenal, and Leicester with zero points to their name, Lampard’s faith was sealed. Tuchel, 47, took charge of Wednesday's 0-0 draw with Wolves but was officially presented to the media on Thursday. His immediate task will be to improve the position of a club who are 8th in the Premier League after spending more than £220m in summer.
However, his Chelsea reign got off to a frustrating start as Wolves secured a point in a drab stalemate at Stamford Bridge. Even though he conducted only one training session with his new team prior to the game, the German was given an indication of the huge challenge facing him as Chelsea struggled to carve out chances against a Wolves side short of confidence and without a top-flight win since 15 December.
Judging just by the names in this fixture one would think that Chelsea are a team to bet on in this fixture, but as it is, of the two teams, Burnley are the high-flying ones at the moment. The Clarets have been rejuvenated since dealing Liverpool their first home league defeat since April 2017. The Clarets have now also progressed to the Round 5 of the FA Cup, doing so against the Cottagers, and their third win on the trot against Villa in midweek will be a huge boost ahead of their clash with Chelsea.
On Wednesday, Chris Wood headed in a late winner as Burnley came from behind twice to grab an unlikely victory against Aston Villa in a thrilling match at Turf Moor. When these two sides met in December at Villa Park, it ended in a 0-0 draw and the point was enough to take the Clarets out of the relegation zone. Since then, they have won four of seven Premier League matches, and just like that victory against Jurgen Klopp's side, Sean Dyche will be extremely proud of his team for not giving up when they looked like being overwhelmed.

With only one training session in the bank prior to the match, fans would be naïve to draw any real conclusions from midweek and Chelsea’s drab draw on Tuchel’s debut in the dug-out. Chelsea have lost one of their 13 Premier League games against Burnley (W9 D3) and are still firm favourites here.
On the other hand, five of the six points Burnley took from those 13 top-flight matches against Chelsea (W1 D3) have been earned at Stamford Bridge (W1, D2). Having in mind their fearless attitude at the moment, one could be tempted to say that they have a chance here, with a new boss still settling at Chelsea.
