Chelsea host Everton at Stamford Bridge (London) in the 27th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 6 pm (UK) on Monday, March 8. Read our reasons for Chelsea vs Everton prediction and betting tips.
Winning last Thursday's race for the fourth place with a solid 1-0 victory at Anfield, Chelsea have won 18 points from Thomas Tuchel’s first eight Premier League (PL) games in charge. The Blues are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League games since Tuchel took over the reins from Frank Lampard back at the end of January. Meanwhile, Everton know a win would see them leapfrog their hosts in the table, and their confidence will be high after three straight clean-sheet league wins. They’ve also won nine top-flight matches on the road this season, which matches their highest tally of away victories in the competition.
Chelsea boss says he's excited to face Carlo Ancelotti's Everton on Monday night. Tuchel admits the clash could be decisive in the top four race and insists his players will be excited and motivated going into the game. The German has studied Everton's progress this campaign under Ancelotti and admits he'll be wary facing their former Real Madrid midfield star James Rodriguez. But he insists he's relishing Monday's test after a perfect display at Anfield.
In midweek, Mason Mount's superb individual strike three minutes before half-time gave the visitors a deserved win and extend their unbeaten run under boss Thomas Tuchel to 10 games and moved them into the top four. Tuchel has had a rejuvenating impact on Chelsea since succeeding Frank Lampard, and victories like this - albeit against a Liverpool team who appear to be a sitting duck at Anfield these days - will increase confidence and belief.
On the other hand, three wins in a week have propelled the Italian's side into top-four contention and they head into the weekend just a point behind Monday's opponents Chelsea but with a match in hand. The trip to Stamford Bridge is a pivotal one for Everton if they are to maintain their progress and fulfil Ancelotti's dream of being able to play in Europe's elite club competition again.
That ambition seemed an unrealistic prospect when he took over in mid-December 2019 with an underperforming side who were just four points above the relegation zone. The shrewd acquisition of players he knows well – James Rodriguez from his time at Real Madrid and Allan with whom he worked at Napoli – plus defender Ben Godfrey from Norwich and Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure have made a significant difference to their fortunes this season.

Chelsea meet Everton having not previously lost their last 25 Premier League home games against the Toffees (W14 D11). However, Everton have won three of their last four Premier League meetings with Chelsea (L1), as many as they had in their previous 15 against them in the competition (W9 D3). The visitors are also looking to complete their first league double over Chelsea since the 1978-79 campaign, after celebrating 1-0 in the reverse fixture in December.
Both teams are first and foremost defensive teams, looking to get at the opponent on the counter. Chelsea might have a marginal advantage coming into this game, but we, nevertheless, expect a low-scoring affair.
