Chelsea host Fulham at Stamford Bridge (London) in the 34th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 5.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, May 1. Read our reasons for Chelsea vs Fulham prediction and betting tips.
Chelsea will be aiming to build on a hard-fought 1-0 win over West Ham United when they take on Fulham in yet another local derby. Also, the Blues moved one step closer to booking their place in the Champions League after a 1-1 draw in Madrid in midweek, but boss Thomas Tuchel must warn his men against the complacency. The Cottagers, on the other hand, are in a very difficult situation as they are seven points behind the safe zone ahead of the London derby. Scott Parker’s men picked up no more than one point in total from the previous five league fixtures, drawing 1-1 at Arsenal last time out, and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Chelsea’s party at Stamford Bridge.
This fixture comes in between a huge semi-final clash with Real Madrid in the Champions League for Chelsea. However, the Blues can’t afford to take their eyes off the ball in the league at present, as they have a place in the top-four well within their sights. Chelsea come into this derby fixture with a three-point lead over West Ham, and a four-point advantage over Liverpool. Chelsea’s recent form has been patchy, as they have won two of their three most recent fixtures since being hammered by West Bromwich Albion.
Thomas Tuchel’s side picked up a massive 1-0 win against the Hammers last time out, with Timo Werner scoring the only goal of the game. As the race for the fourth spot is heating up with just five games of the season remaining, anything but the three points here could hand the advantage to the sides around the Blues. They’re favoured for victory here though as Fulham have the lowest win rate against Saturday’s opponents, managing just three wins in their 51 such meetings with Chelsea which translates to a measly 6%.
Meanwhile, time is running out for Fulham, as they remain seven points adrift of safety in the Premier League. Just a few months ago, it seemed as though they had the quality to get the points required to make a fight for survival. However, a run of four defeats in their previous five means that a safety push looks incredibly unlikely with five games of the season remaining. They will need to win all remaining games to stand a chance, which looks virtually impossible, given that they have won just five games all season to this point.
Scott Parker’s side at least ended a run of four straight defeats in their last league fixture, as they claimed a decent point on the road against Arsenal. Josh Maja put the Cottagers ahead in that game, and they were very unfortunate not to have taken maximum points as Arsenal struck in the 97th minute to deny Fulham a much-needed victory. Fulham are now winless in their last 23 Premier League London derby matches (D5, L18) though the Cottagers have avoided defeat in their last three such fixtures on the road, drawing at Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Arsenal this term.

Chelsea meet Fulham unbeaten in their last 18 home games against the Cottagers in all competitions (W10 D8) since a 0-2 second-tier defeat all the way back in October 1979. Fulham’s record against Chelsea would be a huge concern for Parker, as they have lost the last six fixtures against the Blues. There have been some shocking results this season, but a Fulham win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge would top the lot. A win for the away side looks very unlikely, and we expect Chelsea to improve their chances of a top-four finish.
